I hear ya. this is, by the way, the logic I used when republicans were creaming their jeans over john edwards affair. That was a lapse in his character and this is a clear lapse in her character. So If we are pointing out flaws, let's do them all.

and yeah, I care. No person under the age of 18 should have kids! It's even a bad idea for anyone under 25. When you couldn't turn on the TV or stand in a grocery line without hearing about britany spears sister pregnancy I held it to the same standard. I never heard anyone say ANYTHING negative about it. I was horrified! When you have a kid, your life as you know it is basically over. It's not all about you anymore.

if you haven't done anything in life and you aspire to do so, it's 100x harder with a baby to take care of. anyone who has a kid before they are financially secure is nuts, period! Repubs harp on and on about people on welfare and then they give Palin and Spears a pass?

people survive everyday after getting pregnant. it sucks sure, but i dont think its that high on the issues scale for me, and i doubt it matters much to republican voters unlesss she gets an abortion.

And population is not a major issue? If you haven't noticed it's getting pretty crowded here. It's actually the reason I'm adopting and not having biological children.

and yes, It's not anywhere near the Lewinski thing, however it's good for people headed to the voting booth with all the information that might affect their decision based on their values. Something they cannot seem to shut up about come election time.

Bristol is old enough to have unprotected sex, she's old enough to deal with the responsibilities that come along with it. I don't feel sorry for her. She made her decision, she's going to marry the guy and deal with it like pregnant women have since the dawn of time.

It's pathetic that 17 year old girls are getting pregnant, fucking up their education/college, but she wants to keep it and that's her right.

Let's see her daughter gets pregnant, she doesn't kick her out of the house and she offers support to her during this time...what a terrible mother :rolleyes: If Sarah made her daughter have sex or condoned it or encouraged it, then you have a case against her. Her child is 17, most would agree at 17 the parents are not nearly involved or controlling as they are when a child is 7. How many on here at 17 did something there parents didnt agree with??? It never ceases to amaze me at how some on the left LOVE to point out other peoples faults; i thought the left had the monopoly on understanding and tolerance. the point is that were this any 17 year old but her own, this woman would be railing against the failures of the parents and touting her own abstinence-only views as the best prescription to prevent this. it reveals just how out of touch her policies are with reality. it has nothing to do with her personally or as a parent.

Would it be the same if this was Obama's 17 year old daughter? At 17 I can tell you this I didn't impregnate anyone in fact I was still a virgin. Abstinence worked for me at that time.

When you endorse abstinence only programs, there's going to be backlash when one of your children becomes pregnant out of wedlock. Especially when you're running for a very publicized office. This is today's politics. You attack them however you can instead of debating them. I'm glad Obama is rising above it all. Apparently families aren't off limits though. Anyone remember when Mccain himself made a shitty joke about chelsea clinton back in 98?

If SHE wants to keep it, that is her right. But, given her mom's conservative politics on the subject, I can't help but wonder if she really wants to keep it or if this is a case of yet another teenager being coerced by her parents into having a baby she doesn't want. That would be really sad.
