    these tests are not worthless.

they are used by mnc compnaies even to select their executives.

btw, have you read the lowdown about entp.... read that and decide for yourself if your categorization as entp suits you. just google "entp"

The test was created by Katherine Cook Briggs, a housewife, and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers, neither of whom had any scientific or psychological background or training, after they became fascinated by the work of Carl Jung. It has never been proven in double-blind testing. More than half of the people who take it get a different result the second time it's administered.

Yes, I have many of the qualities of an ENTP, but no more or less than the ENFJ, ENFP, ESFP ... well, I got sick of reading them after that, so I don't know if any of the other sound like me. I also fit large portions of the profiles of the typical Leo, Saggittarius, Aries, Gemini and Aquarius, but I don't find that significant.

The idea that all of humanity can be divided up into 16 basic "types" is a little far-fetched, in my opinion. That companies choose their executives based in part on a test that has no scientific validity whatsoever is disappointing, but not at all surprising.

I've taken three of these tests and have gotten the same result every time. I'm glad to see is disgusts you so much that we may have similar personality types ;)

Hahaha ... not disgusted, but we do seem to look at the world very differently for two people who supposedly have so much in common.

I take this thing every time someone posts it. I always get the E, but the other letters vary.

I am referred to as a teacher of great charisma, apparently. don't quite see that, and this is the first such test ever, where I have been described as extroverted. Maybe I have changed. Hmmm.

If the myers-briggs test was developed by a housewife and her daughter based on the work of Carl Jung, obviously it is backed up by psychological theory because Jung's work is psychological. One does not need formal "training" in order to become quite educated on a topic. I personally have a grade 10 background, and yet I'm quite self educated without credentials.

You may have some of the qualities of the "enfj, enfp or esfp". However, personality typing is based on preferences towards one or another function even when slight. Each type you listed here comparing yourself with are types with a natural preference towards "feeling" (ie: the "f" in each code means "feeling" compared to the "t" in the code you got in this test which refers to a preference towards making one's decisions based on logical thinking)

I'm familiar with your posts, hippiemom. It's quite clear to me you prefer methods that are rational and logical over methods that are "feely" and alogical. Therefore you fit in the the "t" type distinctly moreso than the "f" personality types. Do you disagree with having a preference towards logic decision making?

I personally find it scary that my own boyfriend has the same personality type that 69charger has! No offense, 69charger! ;)

yea, didn't you post this not too long ago in AET? i remember taking the same, or similar test..with the same sorta answers.

    yep, me too...to a T. :)

just an aside...it is VERY possible for two people to have extremely similar personality characterisitcs and yet have completely different belief systems....really quite unrelated when you think about it. so much of personality is innate, while beliefs are learned and/or chosen. and even the whole thinking/feeling debate...one can exhibit highly 'thinking' characteristics, especially here...doens't mean that in reality that their personal choices and/or ways of living aren't more highly based on 'feeling'...there really is so much to it.
