I think Obama won because he was able to hold his own with McCain on his strength, foreign policy.

Personally, I don't think either candidate stood above the other, which is better for Obama at this point (if the polls are correct). But I'd say the winner of this debate is the one who gains more points in polls from swing states. I'm very interested to see these when they come out.

I think Obama was the winner. Not a home run, but very well on the points that he was supposed to falter in.

  • draw.

and this was supposed to be McCains strong debate. and Obama's weak one. It spells trouble for mcSame
  • I think it was Obama, I didn't hear anything new but I think that Obama stood his ground and reflected someone who would drive our country the right direction.

  • On cnn, they're saying a poll of undecideds say Obama won.

I think it was a draw.
  • i think these are two pretty weak candidates.
  • I believe that it was a draw....McCain started off strong and Obama was just accusing McCain of things that weren't true. But towards the end Obama's tactics started to get to McCain and his stances became grey. It will definitely be interesting to see the next debate and how they react to each other
  • Well, 82 percent of Fox News viewers think McCain won ... lol

Draw. Probably overall that helps Obama, but it helps people forget about McCain's blunders in the past few days in the short term.
  • Thats cause they are the most conservative media group haha thats like saying 92% of MSNBC viewers think Obama won

    I've thought for awhile.

Though I didn't see the debate. I followed it old school on the radio while running errands in my car before I leave for vacation tomorrow. And on the radio, it seemed like Obama won early then McCain won the middle and it ended as a draw for me.

Right on in terms of how it went. I thought Obama started out strong as well, and McCain got him bogged down a bit in the foreign policy stuff. They ended up about the same.

    LOL, imagine that!! :D

I know. I was laughing about it. And, to be clear, it wasn't a scientific poll I'm talking about.

At some points, it made the debate a little too argumentative ... but I dunno ... I thought it was an interesting change of pace.

I agree with you totally...It was like he was trying to spread an even bigger gap between the two parties. I think we have enough of a problem with that now.

that was the whole point of the debate, they each had 2 minutes to answer the question, then they were supposed to argue with each other for 5 minutes. i guess they forgot to tell McCain and Obama that.

If I ever run for president, my first response would start with a hefty "Listen Jackass......." that would immediately set the tone.

The few polls I've seen so far (barring the Fox News poll sleightofjeff mentioned), seem to be giving a slight, slight lead to Obama. Don't have links yet, as I've mostly seen them on TV, but I'm sure they're out there.

I mentioned mine as a joke. You shouldn't even take that one with a mound of salt. :)

That said, these "insta-polls" are notoriously unreliable.

We won't really know who "won" until we look at the polls the next couple of days. And really, the only polls that are going to matter are those of undecided voters in these handful of battleground states.

I'm old enough to understand this ... hilarious.

    draw ... at best ...

    if not ... both lost.

I thought they both were pretty weak.
