I'm really glad that this board isn't a good sampling of atheists. It is, however, a good sampling of those who see their lack of belief in any deity to be a religion. I would call it a new fundamentalism here.

I can't remember Newt ever stumping on religion, and his issue with Clinton had more to do with his lying to congress and other standard political bullshit that is pretty equal in both parties. I believe he stepped down during the whole thing coming clean about his own affair. He's a solid economist, and did a good job when he was in there, he's probably one of the least religion oriented members of that party. The Clintons are so dirty anyway this was one of about 75 things they finally nailed Bill on I mean really believing otherwise is like shoving your head in the sand. The same shit goes on no matter who is in office but I don't believe for a second any of our politicians are even sort of clean.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

i don't think it's unfair to bring up christianity when you consider the fact that newt chose to disclose his extramarital affairs during an interview with james dobson.

What a hypocrite! Sucks when the shoe is on the other foot, huh, Newt? Yes, dumping your wife when she's on a hospital bed, having affairs and not paying child support should not be taken into account when running for president. Stay in the race, dude. I would love to see you waste your money.

Gingrich Speaks About 2008 Race In Nashville
    March 21, 2007 09:55 AM

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said in Nashville that the personal lives of White House hopefuls shouldn't become an issue in the 2008 campaign.
Earlier this month Gingrich said he was seeking forgiveness for his own extramarital affair committed while he pursued President Clinton's impeachment in the Monica Lewinsky scandal.
Since the announcement, Gingrich said he's received a positive response from colleagues and others.
He's considering a race for the presidency.*Gingrich was in Nashville Tuesday night to speak at Vanderbilt University.

mark this date down, I agree with SuzzaneJam on something! Newt is a piece of shit, personally...I could never vote for him.

the one point of contention, it doesn't matter to me he was having an affair during the impeachment b/c bill clinton was not impeached b/c he had an affair, he was impeached b/c he lied about it in a sexual harrassment trial...more testimony that the feminist movement is not about feminism, but liberalism...

damn, i just HAD to turn an agreement into a fight :)
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things

Gingrich was lying too, he just never got caught. Whenever someone has an affair he (or she) lives a lie. It makes no difference if the lie was committed in court or not.
Don't threaten me with a good time.

again, you are diverting the point. Slick Willie was accused of sexual harrassment, newt wasn't.

he lied under oath about an affair, in a sexual harrassment trial. i know the drive by media has probably brainwashed the public into thinking clinton was impeached b/c of an affair, but no...it's because he was accused of sexual harrassment, and lied about an affair under oath. that is important b/c perverts like der schlichmeister exhibit such behavior. it's not about...of course, everyone would lie about sex. again, he was accused of a crime...unlike scooter libby.

any real feminist would recognize this, but a liberal wouldn't, the latter would make all kinds of excuses...which further shines the light on the leftist agenda. they don't give a damned about women's rights.

Newt should give up right now. He is a real hypocrite. You shouldn't throw rocks when you live in a blass house.

You still don't get it. Yes, Clinton lied, but at the same time Gingrich was lying to himself, his wife, the American people, and (since Republicans are so religious) God. The fact that it was not part of a lawsuit is immaterial.

By the way, I consider myself a conservative feminist (no, that's not an oxymoron). I didn't like Clinton actually because of his behavior, but women were a lot better off when he was in office than under the Bush theocracy we have now.

Newt hasn't even entered the race.

Unlike Scooter Libby - hahahahaha you kill me.
The guy was accused of sexual harrassment by Paula Jones - who suddenly became the cause celebe of the right wing hit machine that saw their chance to take Clinton down...she received support from right wingers financially and otherwise in an attempt to bring down his presidency. Then we the case was over they Republicans abandoned her - sort of like they abandon our wounded soldiers coming home from the Deciders war.

Oh and nice quote from Ted Kennedy. Unfortunately for you he voted against the invasion of Iraq like anyone else with a brain would have.
But it is a nice attempt to conflate Kennedy with the "imminent danger" crowd.

Neither has Gore, but the lines have been drawn.

i believe he was acquitted on perjury charges. like it or not, he played the legal system and did not technically break the law. if newt aplogizes publicly for his hypocritical witchunt, i will let it go and listen to what he has to say. but until then, newt talking about personal lives not being an issue makes about as much sense as al sharpton saying race shouldn't be an issue in his campaign.

Bill Clinton was accused of sexual harrassment, but wasn't found guilty. However, during the course of the investigation, he was asked a question about his affair with Monica Lewinsky - something that wasn't a crime - and he lied about it. Hence, the perjury charge.
again, he was accused of a crime...unlike scooter libby.
Scooter was accused of a crime - perjury. There was an investigation into who leaked the name of a covert CIA agent - a crime - and Scoots was called in to testify. During his testimony, he lied. Let's say if you were called in as a witness to someone else's trial, and you lied while under oath, you too would be charged with a crime. Or should it be O.K. for witnesses to lie? Would that help our justice system?
  • Of course you're receiving positive feedback Newt. those people don't have the balls to tell you what a cancerous twat you are to your face.
