It's not about being without a heart. It is about picking your battles. Right now, there is no viable candidate (one who has even the slightest chance of winning the seat in the White House) who is pro-decriminalization. So what should we do? Vote for someone who will not win just to stand that ground, when we could make actual change by choosing the best option to make the most change in the country? Should we throw that vote away on something that no one who has a chance is supporting?

What state do you live in? Most it won't be close so if it's not, say you live in MA where Obama will win by 20%+ then vote for Ron Paul. It's winner take all in each state for the electoral college. If you live in say Florida or Ohio, it's a different thing, your vote might actually count for something then.

I'm about to light one up, my back pain is killing me today. To much driving in the car for work. Psyched I'm quitting to start and be my own boss with less customers, more $ and less travel. So what's the Steve Polychronopolous you speak of? Is it on the youtube?

I know they are different drugs.. and why would you doubt Ed and why would you care?

Smoking pot is not something to be proud of. It's an escape. An escape from our shitty lives. I don't brag about all the alcohol I drink.. It is not an important issue.
With all due respect, the prohibition on alcohol has already been lifted. So yeah, it's a moot point.

However, the prohibition of marijuana is still very much in affect and to those of us who lead upstanding lives in every other way (good job, pay our taxes, donate to charities, etc..) also stand up for what we believe is a harmless drug, especially when compared to severity of the effects of alcohol. And there are some who would go as so far as to give up the legality of one for the other.

I'm sure it's considered a priority to the men and women in jail on marijuana related charges.

Marijuana prohibition is nothing but mind control and beaureaucratic red tape, not to mention a waste of resources.

    Legalize it!

And shame on anyone who doesn't consider lawmaking a high priority for those running for the highest office of the executive branch.

Also, marijuana laws are a local, state and national issue. But the most promising strategy is to start at the local and state level.

The most say you have? That's your fault! I have much more say than that and I can't even speak the language? And that's my fault!

I didn't say a radio station you twit, I fought a commercial station to save two hours of local programming that plays unsigned, indie, local acts. Actual music that people want to listen to. Sort of like Eddie's "Monkey Wrench Radio". It's a huge resource to our city. And the corporate powers were going to let it go. Until I started my little campaign. People said it couldn't be done. It took two months, we won. I work local and national issues, and aced ever govt./poli sci course in college, I've also worked tons of media in the real world. I don't need you to tell me how it works. But you might, if you think your one vote is the only way you can have a say. Thanks for the venom, it just proves my point that what I do works because all you can come back with is bad names and the F word.

I thinks its really sad because I am sure there are a lot of people who won't vote for Obama or vote at all, just because of the Marijuana issue. Give me a break... smoke 'em if you got 'em, but this is so far down on the priority list right now, that its embarrassing to me that people take the time to make videos like this on YouTube, rather than worrying about, oh... I don't know... the war, the terrible economy, the housing crisis, gas prices. Sad.

    Thank you!

I mostly work state and local but if I can I try to get the national as well.

We've got a big binding statewide for marijuana decrim in November with the election.

Even though I hammer Obama with my video, that question that I am supporting will help him at the ballot box.

Lots of first time or rare voters come out to vote for these marijuana reform questions and who do you think most of them will vote for president. Not Mccain.

How dare you criticize my volunteer time. If you pick up some litter am I going to say, hey man you should have been laying down in front of tanks! What a waste of time! Seriously what is wrong with people? What are you doing?

What are you doing on the housing crisis? I've actually helped a few people out on that. But what are you doing about it? On the war? What are you doing about the gas prices?

As if this is the only thing I do with my life?

I am active, and my videos do make a difference. You doing anything?

I have lots of support from them, I know because people let me know. I appreciate the support.

One part of my life is taking care of my family and friends. Why should we have to suffer because you, (somebody that probably hasn't done a thing), thinks it is a lower priority than some things that aren't going to get fixed because idiots gave the billionaires crooks to much power?

Makes no sense. I need medicine. I am asking for it. Obama is not supporting me on that.

You are telling me that the war is the reason that I can't have it??????

First of all, Ive smoked pot before, and never really liked it. With that said, I am in full support of its medical benefits being explored to the fullest, and the proper action being taken, because if it is truly a good drug for people with certain problems to use, I have no problem with that. At the same time, while I have not explored the issue fully, I would probably not be opposed with having it being legal to everyone, regardless of medical need. In other words, why I don't plan on using the drug recreationaly, if the issue ever did appear on my ballot, I would probably for its legalization, decriminalization, etc, but if the measure failed, I would probably not really be bothered.

I guess something I do not get in regards to your issue with me, is how you attack me and talk exclusively about the use of marijuana for medical purposes, but even after re-watching the video, I do not believe the word "medical" is included at all, and if it is, it does not appear to be the point of the video. It really appears to me, that from the very beginning, with the term "Legalize It" being used, followed by a picture of people at a rock show, which I guess is actually an ad, that the video was not made for making a case for medical marijuana, but was actually targeted at recreational marijuana users. While I still believe there are more important issues to worry about than medical marijuana, had your video appeared to be talking about the medical side of the issue, I might have never posted anything, but because it appeared to be more of 'just another pothead crying about the law' (thats sarcastic), it bothered me that this would be the most important issue to some people, and I am not talking about those who could benefit from it medically.

I respect that while I may care more about other issues, that other people, yourself included, have certain issues, like medical marijuana, which directly effect your life, and therefore you care a great deal about them, and that makes sense, and like I said, had I took from your video that was all about medical marijuana, I am sure I would have reacted differently.

With all that said, I still don't agree with the approach, of using the fact that Ed has smoked to grab peoples attention and making it seem like Obama wants to put him in jail, as once again, Ed smoking marijuana has absolutely nothing to do with the medical benefits. If you want to jump one me about the medical need for it, than stick to the medical facts. If you want to talk about smoking pot for recreational purposes, than talk about Ed. But I think it really hurts your argument that one second you are saying Ed would be arrested by Obama, and then when I say something about how fighting for the legalization should not be someone's first priority, in regards to your Ed comment, you get on me about the medical issue, which like I said, has absolutely nothing to do with Eddie Vedder, and from what I read in your video, didn't necessarily relate to that either.

I was just trying to tell you the background, maybe not the smoothest, I'm trying to watch "Jeepers Creepers 2"..haha.

It's not about legalization but decrim. Not arresting people. I am a medical user and in most states even with a medical bill I would not be covered. I have chronic back pain from wrestling. And I work and can function but I need it for the every day pain that I deal with. That's just one reason why decrim is important to cover all people. Medical and decrim are pretty much the same, just one covers all people for any medical reason and for even personal. Bottom line is if you don't think your loved one or family member or even Eddie Vedder should be arrested for one joint, you support marijuana decrim. That's the message. And yes it is mostly directed to recreational and medical smokers and advocates.

What state do you live in? If it is all Democrat or Republican your vote may not mean anything so vote for RP in that case. Like me in MA, No Democrat for President has ever lost my state. Even McGovern won in MA. Obama will take MA by 20+% so I will definitely vote for my heart. Winner takes all in each state for the electoral college. So what state do you live in? Florida or Ohio, etc. your vote counts, in MA or say New York State Forget about it and vote RP!

what a stupid thread. give it up, man. what are you 15? what a non-issue in the context of the world everyone else is living in. is it really that hard for anyone who wants to smoke to get some pot? this is retarded.
Actually it is you that is off. The thread is about not arresting people and giving them criminal records for life not getting some pot per se. I am one of those people penalized for at least 10 years at least in regards to my career, because of one medical joint. You may not think it is important but to a late 30's step-father with a bad back that he will never accept disability pay for its sucks that BS hurts my job prospects when I am an A+ worker. I'm lucky pretty much, hopefully it holds out, but I am unusual and lucky as I said....
