i think this is basically what's going on here. i think she meant it idiomatically, not literally... as in they do not take this lightly. im not sure i believe it anyway, but i rather doubt she actually believes they have it worse than the families who have people serving. it was just a poor way of trying to get her point across. i'd file this under the hyper-active media desperately looking for blood and scandal category... along with don imus's stupid comments. this is people looking for news, not real news.

we all love to be outraged don't we? we'll watch hours of offensive footage so we can tell other people who disgusting it is...

This is essentially what I was going to say, but you said it more articulately. Have any of you said "no one ______ more than I do." Usuallly, that is not true.

So I am not at all bothered by the "nobody more than us..." Part. I am perhaps slightly bothered by the term "suffer" as she comes from a culture where people profit from, but do not fight in, wars. If she had said something like "nobody has struggled with this more than us", I would not have cared at all (even if insincere, as insnincerity is expected from these people).

What a stupid bitch. When I think of the time my son-in-law was there, trying to catch a glimpse of him on the news, holding my breath every time my daughter would call, scared it would be bad news ... and what I went through was NOTHING compared to so many others, I feel slightly stupid even mentioning it. I love him, but he's not my child, not my husband .... and he came back all in one piece. We didn't have to bury him, or nurse him back to health, or watch him lying paralyzed, or help him learn to function without some of his limbs.

No one suffers more?!??! God, I just want to slap her  I bet she and her mother-in-law get along real well.

I share the sentiment entirely hippiemom. For her to come out with something so self-centered quite honestly appalls me. Just when i thought there was no greater imbecile on this planet than Georgie Boy, it seems he has had a secret weapon in his arsenal all along to avoid this prestigous award.

Yea that was quite a stupid self-centered bullshit comment.
Are her daughters in the frickin war?
    F' no they're not.
Neither is her bunk ass husband.
Hell G.W. didn't serve in any frickin wars cause his dad pampered his ass out
of the dam thing way back when G.W. was still shittin in his pants.
I still wanna know how that family is suffering more so than anyone else.
Military familys could actually prolly starve from lack of money after payin monthly bills.
Yet big Dicky Cheney and family, GW and family are living and eating quite nicely.
I've heard some soldiers families get food stamps.

George and Laura (and Cheney, et.al.) don't read the newspapers.

They haven't a stinking clue how the American people feel.

    What's worse....they don't want to.

oh please fuck off. i'm not even gonna read that. laura bush is a fool married to an even bigger fool if she thinks she suffers more than the families of the soldiers, the soldiers themselves and the civilians of iraq.

you know, they keep playing this on the news along with clips of the Bushy's dancing with the bongo drums. FUCKERS I say. Can't wait until the whole lot of them are on the helicopter leaving their messes for someone else to clean up.

Gotta go, my 3 year old with only one parent right now, as the other is in Iraq, needs dinner. Right now, he thinks he is suffering more than Laura....I think he's fucking right!

not only does he make assnine statements but now she has started to do the same thing ,yeah tell that to the families of the dead soldiers LAURA ....

you guys are seriously taking this out of context, its a figure of speech, its not meant she "literally" mean she suffers more than everyone else...Bush had to make a tough decision (whether right or wrong) and he as to live with it, thats all she is saying...CHILL OUT PEOPLE!!!!....people see what they want to see when you read something...its a shame people have to reach every single day to find a reason to bash on Bush or his administration, arent there enough reasons to without reaching for comments???

it doesn't matter what context it was in. she shouldn't have said it. the better part of valour would have been NOT to have gone into iraq.
and if the bush administration was doing a stellar job there'd be no complaints. he fucked up. and continues to do so. it's as simple as that.

why shouldnt she have said it?? she can say what she wants and im not offended by it, i have friends in the military both not serving anymore and some that still are and they dont see what everyones deal is on this board....

you think the Bush's are having a field day with all the decisions Bush has to make day in and day out, forget for a minute if the war choice was right or wrong...what if someone knit picked everything you said in a day and tried to spin it like people do on this thread....

hell if i was Bush i would throw my hands up in the air and say Pearl Jam Message Board take over because obviously you people sitting behind a computer bashing me day in and day out have a greater idea on how to run the country

and no matter who is in the office there is ALWAYS someone who will complain
