Call me crazy, but I think there are thousands of people who suffer b/c of this war more than the President and his wife. I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

    Try waiting for a letter.
Try avoiding answering the phone after a certain hour at night.
    Try counting down the days.
    Try saying welcome home
Try saying goodbye and be safe, again
    Try not to think.

    (Not even close are you.)

What a stupid bitch. When I think of the time my son-in-law was there, trying to catch a glimpse of him on the news, holding my breath every time my daughter would call, scared it would be bad news ... and what I went through was NOTHING compared to so many others, I feel slightly stupid even mentioning it. I love him, but he's not my child, not my husband .... and he came back all in one piece. We didn't have to bury him, or nurse him back to health, or watch him lying paralyzed, or help him learn to function without some of his limbs.

No one suffers more?!??! God, I just want to slap her  I bet she and her mother-in-law get along real well.

Ah, why would you feel "slightly stupid" to mention it? Is it not natural to worry about people we care for and love.

Because it's so insignificant compared to what so many other soldiers and their families have gone through and continue to go through. So I was worried, big deal ... what's that compared to having your child come home with no legs, or your father not come home at all? Complaining about it seems almost Bush-like :o

has laura bush lost a child to this war?

    she has no idea, sorry.

It was as stupid comment and stupid subject for her to speak on. It's a no win for the Bush family here. If she says the "no one suffers more" people will shit on her for not understanding the loss others face. If she says anything else the Bush family will get shit on for not accepting responsibility for the Iraq and the consequences of the war.

She shoudl have been smart enough to not talk about it or make a comment such as "Out of respect for those serving and their families this is not a subject I feel I should speak about but we do hold sacred the responsibility we've been given."

non-issue really ... all this does is make the people who are upset more upset ... at this stage - do we really expect any more from anyone involved with this joke of an administration?

Because they all have to do these softball interviews to ensure that they will stay in the good graces of the interviewee. The media is compromised by the need for advertising dollars.

I could imagine how she and her husband could suffer as much as anyone. GW caused this suffering.. if he cared like I imagine most humans would.. he should suffer.

    But he doesn't seem to.
  • What a profound B-I-T-C-H!

A bit of nerve has she?

i think this is basically what's going on here. i think she meant it idiomatically, not literally... as in they do not take this lightly. im not sure i believe it anyway, but i rather doubt she actually believes they have it worse than the families who have people serving. it was just a poor way of trying to get her point across. i'd file this under the hyper-active media desperately looking for blood and scandal category... along with don imus's stupid comments. this is people looking for news, not real news.

we all love to be outraged don't we? we'll watch hours of offensive footage so we can tell other people who disgusting it is...

Lol, it's true. We do love to be outraged. But I've stopped doing that to myself because it was dumb and unhealthy. Bill O'Reilly doesn't deserve the chance to raise my blood pressure anymore.

And I agree that she didn't mean it in a literal sense. It was a tasteless and ignorant choice of words though...which, piled on top of my feelings towards the Bush administration, is disgusting. ;)
  • Laura Bush, pillar of society and great woman of the people

I am pretty sure a LOT more people have suffered over this than you have. The people of Iraq and the people that went there under false pretenses certainly have.
  • well, i'm not defending bush or laura cause they do seem kinda like idiots to me. but however they both are still humans. i'm sure they do feel bad about the whole situation but they're just blinded either by their own beliefs or their own idiotic policitcal affairs that they just can't seem to do the right thing. i'm sure she was sincere in her comment. so, what? maybe she doesn't feel as hearkened as the mother who lost her kid in iraq but putting yourself in her position we have no idea what kind of pain it is to send troops to war. maybe it is a hard decision to make. but as i said they're blinded by their beliefs and political affiliations that they can't seem to do the right thing. that's why i hate politics. that's why i hate talking about it too. i don't center my beliefs, convictions and ideas to republicans or democrats. it's ridiculous to me. if you're a democrat, you'll be discriminated as a democrat. if you're a republican, you'll be discriminated as a republican. why not be discriminated by our own individual actions?

in the case of bush... his actions are pretty ridiculous so that's why we should judge him as such. everyone please send more bush jokes.
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.

i vote stupid. i feel the same about her husband. i don't think he is intentionally trying to screw the world. i think he honestly believes he is the leader in a battle of good and evil... a very black and white, rapture-believing christian worldview. i think he's a pawn for bigger players, people like his father and cheney and rumsfeld. he's great at selling his policies to people who, like him, have a very narrow way of seeing the world ("you're with us or with the terrorists") and he has been so effective specifically becos he honestly believes these things when he says them, which allows him to convince those people he is a man of god sent to combat evil and the dems will destroy this country. thus, when he says stupid shit, and his wife says stupid shit, i truly believe they are speaking from the heart and simply have no grasp of reality when they speak. they are just puppets, dancing for the real demons.
