it feels good to know that our boys played a benefit concert for the seat that swung the senate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fuck yeah!
I was just thinking the same thing. I wonder if this will encourage them to do more of this kind of thing in the future. I kind of hope they don't but I think this victory will lead them into more action in 08. After supporting losers in 2004 and negatively impacting 2000 it's good to see some of their political work actually end up on the winners side for a change. Especially for a guy like Tester who seems about as genuine as a politician can be.
Wow, just so exciting.....and it means so much.. It's just a huge statement that says "we need a change" and I know Jon will do a great job. I was there at the concert (was it really that long ago?? ) in Missoula. and it's so true, that it was really a grassroots effort that helped Jon win!!! Huge thanks to Pearl Jam!!!

I didn't know about Tester, being from Pennsylvania, but after reading about him, his goals, his background, and his opponent, I donated money to his campaign. More than I donated to Casey here in PA.
Thank you Jeff, who knows how many people you guys touched, or how big the wave was that you started!
It looks like the country might need him to take control of the senate away from the republicans. Hopefully the benefit concert the boys had for him in 2005 has helped the cause.
he also has the ugliest poster in the Pj catalog, courtesy of Jeff Ament
I DISAGREE, I love that poster!!! anyhow, I have contributed some $ to Jon's campaign and it is so awesome that someone who is so far to the left won!! I am also involved with Wellstone Action!!! a progressive action committee which trains and helps people for progressive causes.

Define "so far to the left". He is a rural populist. I'm sure his pro-gun stance doesn't sit well with the traditional liberal, eastern, urban leadership of the party.

My feeling is always you have to pick your battles. I'm not sure any 2 people are going to agree about every single thing, but you pick the candidates that best embody your political positions.
Pearl Jam deserves a pat on the back (and way more) - I'm sure everyone has pondered on the thought that Pearl Jam's early support of Jon Tester could have given him a little extra lift at the beginning, and he won one of the VERY close races that caused the Senate to go back to the democrats. Actions are all connected.....

No doubt. I don't discount anything PJ did for him, and I don't discount the tremendous campain he ran. I also think he'll do a fine job - he's a "salt of the earth" kind of guy who seems to genuinely care about people. I was simply responding to the "so far to the left" comment.
