It looks like the country might need him to take control of the senate away from the republicans. Hopefully the benefit concert the boys had for him in 2005 has helped the cause.

he also has the ugliest poster in the Pj catalog, courtesy of Jeff Ament :)

Yea its looking close... NPR said Tester might have been too friendly in his campaign to beat Conrad.. He seems like a genuine guy.. would be an asset to the senate..
I'm gone ..Long gone..This time I'm letting go of it all...So long...Cause this time I'm gone
  • The talk I've heard on tester is that the Democrats will be shocked to find out what this guy is all about if he wins. Not in a bad way, just that he's very pro gun amongst many other non traditional democrat values

Hell yeah! And don't worry. Dems can handle Testers gun views and everything else. They'll welcome him with open arms.

    Go tester!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're still making records for people who listen to it all the way through, eyes closed, in that space.
  • In very, very early returns, tester is up 19,200 to 15,600

the CNN exit polls have Tester favored slightly.

If a traditional Democrat is a liberal East Coast Democrat (like a Kennedy or Schumer), then Tester surely doesn't fit the mold. And that's precisely why he will be elected in Montana. The likes of Charles Schumer could never be elected there. And if the Dems were smart, they'd focus more on the Tester type candidates and less on the Schumers. Guys like Tester can win not only Democrat votes, but also non-fundie Republican votes. As soon as the Dems wise up, boot Howard Dean and create an inclusive party, they'll be able to win the presidency as well.

this is true. the only democract to have any success with the white house was clinton, a pretty moderate dem. the dems have allowed themselves to be painted as far left and to some extent have played up to it too much. their luck has changed lately when the republicans made the same mistake and began moving farther and farther to the right which is having the same effect... moderate republicans feel betrayed.
  • I agree wholeheartedly. I've always been an Independent, who leaned democrat. The Democratic party of Kerry, Clinton, Kennedy, etc..has moved far away from me in the last few years. Having guys like Tester, Obama, and even Ford Jr. is a breath of fresh air.
  • We're up to 4%.
Tester "I approved this haircut" 21034
    Burns "I took $$$ from Abramoff" 17403
  • 22500 to 19600
  • Let's go Montana. Hoping for a Tester win!

  • and now Webb has has taken a 3000 vote lead. Wow!
  • Tester is at 53% with over half of the precincts in  . . . and Webb says he won. . . it's all down to the wire.

I agree, and I don't think he'll pull it off. I think Tester will win MT and I think Webb will win VA. I'm guessing Talent wins MO.

i just saw talent is losing by about 16,000 votes with just over 80% reporting, so maybe the dems will take the senate as well.

Didn't think he had a prayer in Mizzou. That would be huge!

Dems take the house and a possible 50/50 senate.

Let the investigations begin. Bush would have a "little" more than just a BJ to answer to under oath.

I think she can do it. They have her up and some urban areas still out in MO, so it looks good for the Dems.
I think the real challange will be in Virginia (with the impending recount).

Both MO and VA are definitely nail-biters. Very tight races. You may be right about MO, and it is certainly too close to call, but I just don't think she'll do it.

BTW in my post above I left the s off of "she'll" and made it look like I thought Claire was a man. LOL. The post was quoted twice before I realized the typo, so I figured it wasn't worth editing.

Plus lets go Webb and McCaskill!!!!
  • so far we have webb claiming victory and allen claiming recount

I think it's going to be a forced recount (margin of less than 1%), but since Allen is already talking about it... we know it's coming. I'm watching the MO senate race and everytime more numbers come in, McCaskill's small lead is increasing. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

All of that and Tester is up by less than 10,000 votes with 60% in. Eeeek!
  • They just called MO for McCaskill, Tester is still at 51% with 65% reporting and Webb is up by about 6,000 votes in Virginia.

    Go Tester! :D

allright people, MO has gone to the dems and it looks like weeb has a slight lead heading into a recount.

so if our boy Tester can pull this shit out a MAJOR WAVE has swept accross the land today!

i can go to sleep tonigh a little more confident in the American people and our democracy!
  • slightly off topic. did anyone else play Undone 20+ times today?

    LOL. . . no - but it doesn't sound like a bad idea. :)

Tester at 50% with 74% reporting. Come on Montana :D

I wouldn't call Kennedy or Schumer traditional democrats. It's like calling santorum or Bush or Tom DeLay a traditional republican. Let's talk a little more like John McCain-R and Bill Bradley-D or Fred Thompson-R and Joe Biden-D.
