I am just curious, do you really think Manhattan will be under water in a few years?

my guess is 4 to 5 years. i don't believe all the bs going around nor do i believe much of what the media says. when i was in politics; i fed the media what i wanted them to know (or think). i have 2 family members that are scientists for the government and that is an estimation based on what they know.

I just don't see that happening.
I remember a commercial in the late 80's that said all the trees in the rainforests would be gone by 2010 or something like that. Nobody questions any of this stuff and when it doesn't happen no one is held accountable for making such statements. i would be willing to bet anything that in 5 years Manhatten will be just fine.
Don't get me wrong, we need to clean up our act on how we treat the environment I just think a lot of this stuff is scare tactics.
Seeing visions of falling up somehow.

have you seen the latest documenteries showing that the ice is melting faster than earlier predicted? do you know there's already been a rise of 8" in sea level. and the water under antartica has risen 1 degree F? you don't need a scientist to tell you that when you add water to the ocean it's going to rise. you don't need a scientist to tell you that the northern hemisphere is kept warm by ocean currents and adding icewater will cool the oceans and change the currents. the result is colder temperatures in the north. i know it's called global warming but we'll have the cold from melting ice.
it's so logical i don't see why people can't figure it out when it's under their nose.

I may not believe that Manhattan will be underwater in less than 10 years, but I do believe that in that time period we will see billions of tax dollars spent on public works to directly combat the rising water. Notice that I said "directly combat the rising water," this means that I don't believe that our government will ever work to address the causal factors behind the rising water. They will work against the results, but not the causes.
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

I expect that billions will be thrown at the Army Corp of Engineering to "solve" the problem.....then maybe on evacuations, then on lawsuits against insurance companies who probably won't pay for any property losses.

at this point; the only thing we can do is evacuate or build sea walls.

BTW, I'm not knocking your beliefs in any way.....I just stating my belief in regards to what our government will do when actually faced with this crisis.

Although I agree that climate change is indeed a very serious threat, I'm not so sure I would put money on a Manhatten flooding in the next decade.

    well everyone knows that...

it's all about socialism. environmental activists are no different from feminist activists (not actual feminists) and they are no different from racial activists (not actual advocates of civil rights). They don't give a damned about their "cause," they want government to grow, period. They are socialists above all, and while they are proud of it, they can't admit it b/c they know they don't have the popular support here. so they engage in all this fear mongering. did you ever go to sites like adbusters? there's no mission statement, clearly specified. It's all about obsfucation and emotion. It's all about preying on people's fears....that's why they will never win in this country, people here are smarter than that.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
