Greatest Post Ever

this post hit me hard and i've thought about the last 24 hours. it explains the life cycle perfectly while combining all beliefs. here's the post and i'll explain afterwards:

WOW!!! What a thread! And so many interesting points of view. I do not believe that God exists for me. Having said that I do believe that He (or She people!) does exist for many, many people in many different variants around the world. I don't believe that I am any less moral a person because I do not believe. As far as I am concerned I was born with an inherited knowledge of what is right or wrong. It was given to me in my DNA from my parents and they from their parents, just like eye color and hair color and body type. I also learnt moral behaviour from family, friends and the world as I grew up and continue to grow up and I will continue aquiring this knowledge over my life. I think babies are born with the inherent knowledge of what is right or wrong, what it moral and what is immoral. I have no problem with people holding GOD, Allah, Buddha ***insert religious icon here*** as their moral compass. I just find it is unecissary for my life and I have to admit that evangelical religious people who feel the need to convert me to their way of thinking are very distressing to me. I don't have a problem with them holding their beliefs and I wish they would afford me the same courtesy. Many of my friends and family members are moral, religious people of faith. And many very caring and highly moral people in my life are athiests. I love them all. If people, all people, hold love in their hearts and go forward into the world with love in their hearts then we will all be alright. I just can't pick a team! I don't like team sports!

God does exist for some people. those not hypocritical will not have to be reborn again. those who do not have God; will be reincarnated to live another life. thus the cycle of life. several people have proven beyond a perponderence that they had a past life. this proof through science and historical record. it also explains the things we can't explain and never will. it explains how someone can love another from accross the world without ever meeting. i don't mean friends. i mean someone you really love for many years and you'd gladly give your life for. this is part of a theory we used to call the RAINBOW BRIDGE. some may call it nirvana.
it explains how i can call my son-in-law from 1650 miles away and tell him to call my daughter at work because something is wrong; or call and tell him she was in a car accident; i even called her from holiday in mexico to tell her she was pregnant.

i think this is the greatest post ever in my years on the board because it brings contemplation and will continue to bring contemplation as we look for the answers to the mysteries of the universe.

You may be onto something. Didn't he give a similar speech at Reading Festival?

Well, that is where you are completely, 100% wrong! Right and wrong and morals are not instinctive at all for us homo sapiens. That is something that MUST be taught.

interesting. darwin was told the same thing. not those exact words though. whenever a new theory is brought; it begets controversy and encourages debate.
if the theory is wrong; then why? what and where is the proof. we've debated evolution here and no one can prove it right or wrong. it sounds tangable yet how can complex things like the beating heart; the flapping of a hummingbirds wings; and even the eye fit into darwins theory which requires a long time to evolve? why were massive creatures like dinosaurs among the first to evolve when smaller creatures not present in that time would make more sense?

for some people; this world will never be right. some people have an emptiness inside that no amount of drink; drugs; or even killing will ever fill. some are trying to get back at the world just for being born. some are born full of hate and finish their lives that way. some are born full of love and compassion and go on to perform great things for humanity.
this theory explains these questions the world cannot answer.

For some reason that repeats in my head quite frequently.

People are born full of hate or love? Whoa!

I highly doubt that. Is that a religious viewpoint?

no; observation. i've known kids rotten and evil from birth.

There is absolutely no evidence that babies are born with any ability to discern right from wrong. It's most widely believed in clinical applications that babies are born with a blank slate and are not inclined to do anything for which they are not aware of. Babies learn through models, reinforcement and curiosity (trial and error).

What observations allowed you to believe that babies can be innately evil?

Well, besides matter being a slow vibration, the rest of what he said is complete bullshit. I guess that's why Acid is required to formulate such ideas.

It still repeats in my head though, I can't stop it.

I assumed you knew hicks.. that particular quote was in reference to the news always talking about people eating acid and thinking they can fly.. then him saying why don't we ever hear the positive stories.. the news is supposed to be subjective.. THE news.. anyways. I agree with his analogy on "The Ride" completely 100%.

I just remember this from the beginning of Tool's song "Third Eye".

    Bingo!

The beating of the heart is not instinct....it is what happens automatically when you are alive. It stops when you die.

While birds can flap their wings....they have to be taught how to fly through trial and error and by being shown by example. I am not versed on hummingbirds, so I am not sure if they are different or not. But there is no nothing that suggested human beings know right from wrong or have any sense of morales at birth.
