The constutuion is not a universal document which applies to citizens of the world. Limiting speech of a foreign national does nothing to erode our first amendment rights as citizens of the US.
So you believe that foreign nationals should be restricted from saying certain things? And if the same were applied to Americans travelling abroad you'd be happy with that?
Sounds a bit like how the Bush Administration believes that the Geneva convention and the international criminal court doesn't apply to Americans. So it's one law for Americans and another law for everyone else?
Still, I do find it amusing that Americans are making a big thing out of Bush being criticised. I mean, let's be honest. Bush is a laughing-stock the world over. He's a ridiculous, unevolved child with too much money and power who the world regards as a dangerous idiot. If anybody really wanted to stop foreigners critisicing Bush they'd have one massive job on their hands. Maybe foreign t.v and radio in America would need to be banned.

None of this is new ... My point was this ... Why is one ridiculous, unevolved child knocking another? Is hard to take valid criticism seriously if it comes from a joke source.

Why is this a revelation for people? Do you honestly think the UK treats foreign nationals the same as citizens? Travel rights, visas, education. Are you telling me there is no difference between a foreign national and a citizen of the UK in terms of the way your gov't treats them?

I don't have any particular love for Bush. I just don't want petulant little dictator wannabe's shooting off their mouths when they are on our soil as guests. They can say whatever they want about us anywhere else.
And the suggestion about banning of foreign t.v. and radio in America simply illustrates the idea that you've totally missed the point.

No. Foreign diplomats and officials are given more rights than us. They are allowed to brea speed limits and are immune to paying the London congestion charge, for example. It sucks. If one of these fellas critised Tony Blair, the majority of people would be supportive of this, just as would a majority of Labour party politicians.
Hugo Chavez was in London not long ago, and was welcomed by the Mayor of London - Ken Livingstone. He gave a speech criticising Bush and Blair and was widely applauded.
This is a great example that shows just how similar democrats and republicans are. On major issues, like keeping the world's resources out of the hands of governments who may want to use their export revenues to benefit the majority of their people, and not just a handful of rich investors.....they're essentially the same.
I swear, some American's have their heads so far up their asses...
So it's ok to criticize the Iraqi regime, the Iranian regime, the Palestinian Authority, etc..
The list of countries Bush has criticized and gone as far as to say they are evil and god instructs him to defeat them. Fuck! How stupid can people be?
Bush is getting what he gives, he is a hipocritical ass tard, I'd cap his ass myself if I believed in that sort of thing.
Chavez can topple the U.S. government for all I care, this shows how truly fucked it is. To all you Americans: you are due for a real rude awakening, you will be knocked off your holier than thou throne made out of bullshit; wake up and smell the coffee, your government is belligerent, hipocritical and stupid
Every time I read about some stupid statements like these I feel like ending my life to secure me from this insanity. .

lol, I know how to tie a noose. It's pretty well the only knot I know how to tie.
I don't take any meds, though, them more time I spend on the MT the more I think I should.
I guess my point is; take a look at the situation from all sides. If you were a citizen of these other countries how would you perceive Bush? I know I'd think he is the devil, as a resident of Canada I already think he is corrupt and blatantly wrong most of the time. I can't understand how the U.S. congress and people fail to see that.
As for U.S. citizens, I have met a lot and talked to a lot, and the general census in Canada seems to be that Americans are ignorant and selfish. This is a hard thing sometimes to overcome, especially when it's demonstrated for me repeatedly.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

very true; but from the other view: you would be inspired into action should, say, Colin Powell begin to radically criticize the Bush administration?
the underlying issue of this incident is that Bush is wrong [and innocent folks are dying] and no one is seriously taking arms about that -- thus i think Chavez was correct, at least in a minimalistic form of 'effort-towards-effect', because he made news about this,.... and we all know one has to be sensational to infiltrate america's "media" today so as to engage her 'democracy'.

"If there's any criticism of President Bush, it should be restricted to Americans, whether they voted for him or not," Rangel said at a Washington news conference.
....
Though I've big reservations about Chavez, Rangel's statement is questionable. You can't embark on a neocolonial foreign policy, and deny the rest of the world a critical voice.
However, I wouldn't mind reading this soundbite in its fuller context.
My thoughts exactly.

It's called the Fundamental Attribution Error and Selective Memory. Not being an asshat should be one of the presidential requirements.
How his he a hypocrypt? The Bush administration dismissed the comments. Truth be known I doubt Bush really cares what those two crack pots really think, because they'll both be returning to thier shit hole countries.

It's not about Bush, it's about the attitude all over the U.S.A.
I always try to address it in a respectful manner, but come on, people in other countries really don't give a shit what America thinks. Why should we listen to America and America doesn't listen to anyone? fuck that. The attitude makes me sick.
Are you American? If you are not then you must care what they think or you wouldn't be posting on this board.

The only nationality of people that successfully piss me off are Americans. I can tolerate other people, but I just feel like smacking some of them and they are damn lucky they don't set foot on this side of the border. That kind of attitude will get a person dead. We got gangs and shit too, only they aren't Americans and won't tolerate that attitude.
Well DUDE, plenty of Americans visit us in Canada every day, and as a matter of FACT plenty of Canadians visit America every day, and also just a small point, plenty of Canadians work in US facilties in Canada and are very thankful for the job and this includes family members of mine and personally i"d much rather talk to an Americans. Sounds to me your just pissed off and don't no why, Unlike the Arabs at least Americans don't hate us and are not out to get us.

Because as you guys are so fond of saying about Americans, they are ignorant of the actual situation in Venezuela.
