Which is what I have been saying all along... you don't need to pray for me... I'm okay. You don't need to save me... I am not in harm's way. I do not need to be forgiven... I have not done anything wrong.
Send your prayers to those who need it.
    ...
And how many times have I said... my beliefs are mine... personal to me? My beliefs do not apply to anyone else and I do not expect anyone else to follow me... just as your beliefs do not apply to me.
Pray all you want, if it makes you feel better... which is exactly my point... to make YOU feel better.
prayer isn't about trying to "save" others or about trying to impose your beliefs as well. prayer could be just about hoping that you will have a good day or hoping that your doctor's exam will turn out positive. it could mean a variety of things. but i know exactly what you mean. but if i were to pray for you don't think it's a coincidence that you feel unusually happy.

btw, cosmo, i bid God's blessings upon you. :D

at least for me, if i didn't have any prayer i wouldn't always make the right choices all the time. i'm sure goodness is already in everyone's heart as i'm sure it's in you. but prayer gives me the strength to act upon certain things that might be too difficult to overcome.
    ...
Which works for you... fine, i'm happy for you.
But, just because it works for you that way, doesn't mean it works for me the same.
I do things... well, just because. I think it is just a character trait. i don't pray for the strength to help others... i just do it. Which comes back to the question I asked... without prayer, strenght, compassion and dedication do not exist? I say, 'No'. Compassion and dedication are character traits... I don't need to ask to employ them.

and like i said, i'm sure that goodness is something that every human being has. but sometimes, just sometimes, there are certain things that as human beings we don't know how to react. it happens to all of us. i've reacted negatively to others many, many times and i'm sure you have to. that's what prayer is there for in a christian's life, to try to fix that little negative aspects of our lives.

    Thanx...
    There... was that so hard?
again, you and I differ... where you pray for me to have a good day... I tell you, "Have a nice day". Where you pray my test results return negative, I tell you, "I hope your test come back negative".
I guess the main difference is that I don't think God is going to rely my message to you... so, I don't use God as a conduit and go straight to you, instead.
and... God be with you, too.

praying that your test results will come back negatively as opposed to saying, "I hope your test come back negative" sounds awefully a lot the same to me.

They are the same thing in context except for one glaring difference...
I say it aloud so the person so they can hear it...
You say it in silence, to your god and it does not reach the person you are praying for.

Which is what I have been saying all along. Get the message to the person, not just silent prayer. Reach out and offer your hand and let them know you are there.
This has been what I've been saying all along. I am saying that praying alone does not help the victim... it helps the person doing the praying. So, yeah... If you are going to pray for someone... tell them.
And don't get bent when they tell you to pray for the others who are in worse shape.

I pray, but not necessarily every day. It's not an only pray when things are bad situation though. It's more of I pray when I feel I need to talk to God. When I do pray, usually it's thanking God for everything that is good in my life and asking for patience and understanding so that I can deal with anything bad that comes my way. I also will confess my sins and ask for forgiveness. I don't ask for a better job, money, or other material things because if that's the reason you are praying, you don't truly understand your religion in my opinion.

And like a lot of others, I try to always say a prayer of thanks before every meal.
