  • That's what I'm saying, I think schools should compete for students. People shouldn't be forced to send their children to a certain school.

Unfortunately, money doesn't usually equate to books, equipment, tools, etc.

Schools compete? The schools with the money to get all the fancy shit gets all the rich families. That's how your plan is working out...and it is being comepletely negligent to the poorer children. This plan simply ain't working.

If a school isn't using the money correctly then hold them accountable for it, by all means. But give them the fucking chance in the first place.

...uh, "my plan" hasn't been implemented. As of now, parent's don't have a choice and schools aren't competing. Like you said, doesn't seem like it's working.

need to go to bed...later all :)
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

As long as you drive your child to school they have a choice about which school they go to. They just can't afford the private schools.

I'm sorry for saying fuck in my last reply. I get a little worked up about this subject. I just want these kids to have a chance at a brighter future on a level playing field. I wasn't meaning to sound harsh. Have a nice night. :)

  • what does worst/best mean? or most least?

I'm guessing choice of dr is underated in these rankings...I like my dr...I would not respond well to someone telling me where to go.

You seem to be of the understanding that universal healthcare means someone telling you which doctor to see. It doesn't mean that. It means that public funding picks up the bill when you go to see your certified doctor. We have universal healthcare, most doctors apart from the state-run hospitals run a private practice, but get paid tariffs by the state for appointments, apart from a small "own-payment" by the patient. (Typically 15-30$ depending on it being a specialist or regular doctor) And before you say, well good people wont be doctors bacuase they make so little, I can inform you that doctors are indeed well off in this country, and medical education is one of the more prestigious and requires among the highest grades to get in.

What really doesnt fit, is that when one counts how much money different countries spend on health pr capita, the US trounces everyone by spending 2-4 times more than most other industrialized countries. Still, you seem to have much poorer coverage than any of the other western states. you may have top-notch treatment for those who can pay, but the percentage that has access to that is smaller than most other places.

I'm not saying what you should do, but universal health isn't impossible, unfeasible or authoritarian. It's about choice, really.
