i am also not going to completely blame the problems faced by 300,000,000 people on 545 people...

    thats going a bit far

no one has a gun to the heads of americans telling them to charge flat screen TV's to thier visa and drive cars they cant afford...

Also quite true. Also a remarkably tough problem to fix.

It's probably become far to easy to attain things that are unaffordable for the majority of people.

yes it has... people spending 1 or 2 months salary on a TV or computer has become quite common, and they are not even paying cash they are using credit...... not to mention the fact that americans "need" a new car every 3-5 years just to feel good about themselves and keep up with the jones's

for example... pearl jam is touring and selling tickets this week... tons of people are going to put $1000 on their visa just for tour tickets, whether they can afford it or not... that isnt nancy pelosi's fault

who said anything about debt???? i think you are oversimplifying things here.

the majority of ppl don't want us in iraq, they don't want corporate handouts, they don't want it to be so easy to pollute, they want a single payer health care system and none of those needs are being addressed by the majority of our elected officials.

so, now, what my neighbor charges on his visa isn't any politicians fault, don't know how you read that absurd argument

and yes, we understand a veto, you don't seem to grasp they don't have to give in...so they make a show and say 'we want this!' and bush vetoes it...then what happens???? anybody? something is put forth that is more to bush's liking and....they vote for it!!!! that was it? that one vote was all they could muster??

so bush vetoes their budget b/c it says withdrawal, why the hell do they have to give in just b/c he says no!? we need ppl to stand up for us, not just say 'well, we asked him once and he said no, so.....' they may not have 2/3 but they have enough to block it, do they not???
    standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
    eager to identify with
    someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

what about line item veto with the ability to override the veto just as exists with the current veto process?
