I've got my head but my head is unraveling
Can't keep control, can't keep track of where it's traveling
I've got my heart but my heart's no good
And you're the only one that's understood
I come along but I don't know where you're taking me
I shouldn't go but you're wretching, dragging, shaking me
Turn off the sun pull the stars from the sky
The more i give to you the more i die
and i want you
and i want you
and i want you
and i want you
you are the perfect drug…the perfect drug…the perfect drug
you are the perfect drug…the perfect drug…the perfect drug
You make me hard when i'm all soft inside
I see the truth when i'm all stupid eyed
The arrow goes straight through my heart
(Without you everything just falls apart)
My blood wants to say hello to you
My fears want to get inside of you
My soul is so afraid to realize
(How very little there is left of me)
and i want you
and i want you
and i want you
and i want you
you are the perfect drug…the perfect drug…the perfect drug
you are the perfect drug…the perfect drug…the perfect drug
take me with you
take me with you
take me with you
take me with you
without you…without you everything falls apart
without you…it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces
without you…without you everything falls apart
without you…it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces
it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces
it's not as much fun to pick up the pieces
without you…without you everything falls apart
without you…it's not as much fun to pick up the pieceshear my name
take a good look
this could be the day
hold my hand
lie beside me
i just need to say0 -

don't compete; coexist
what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

I wouldn't call music a crutch, but goddamn...how it gives me strength to lean on it from time to time. So dependable and unwavering.
(sidenote - this song makes me want to greet everyone with 'ello, guvnah!')0 -
Excellent version - and I dig this dude's voice. Don't know much about him, but he doesn't seem full of himself.

Arlo (great name, huh) - reminds me a bit of Hedberg...with a spoonful of Kinison thrown in for good measure.

You must leave now, take what you need, you think will last.
But whatever you wish to keep, you better grab it fast.
Yonder stands your orphan with his gun,
Crying like a fire in the sun.
Look out the saints are comin' through
And it's all over now, Baby Blue.
The highway is for gamblers, better use your sense.
Take what you have gathered from coincidence.
The empty-handed painter from your streets
Is drawing crazy patterns on your sheets.
This sky, too, is folding under you
And it's all over now, Baby Blue.
All your seasick sailors, they are rowing home.
All your reindeer armies, are all going home.
The lover who just walked out your door
Has taken all his blankets from the floor.
The carpet, too, is movin' under you
And it's all over now, Baby Blue.
Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you.
Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you.
The vagabond who's rapping at your door
Is standing in the clothes that you once wore.
Strike another match, go start anew
And it's all over now, Baby Blue."You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry." - Lincoln
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."0 -

When I first heard this song, I related it to my situation with Danny. Long-distance-living for more than two years before he packed up his truck and trekked out here to me, to my city; in that in-between time, it was difficult and drew upon our strengths, our humor, our will to make it work.
And it has. WE have. Continue to.
But now, I can see it's more about faith - yet another piece Maynard wrote vis-a-vis his mother. I know faith isn't necessarily related to religion, but it fits, on both sides.
So as the first anniversary of my mother-in-law's death is in a couple of days, and given how much this day meant to her - this is for Sue.
Happy I got to meet her, and moreso that I got to thank her for her part in making, raising, the beautiful man with whom I share this life.

A groan of tedium escapes me, startling the fearful.
Is this a test?
It has to be. Otherwise I can't go on.
Draining patience. drain vitality.
this paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old.
But I'm still right here, giving blood and keeping faith. And I'm still right here.
But I'm still right here, giving blood and keeping faith. And I'm still right here.
I'm gonna wait it out
If there were no rewards to reap,
no loving embrace to see me through this tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
I'm gonna wait it out
If there were no desire to heal
The damaged and broken met along this tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
I still may. And I still may.
Be patient.
I must keep reminding myself of this...
If there were no rewards to reap,
no loving embrace to see me through this tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
And I still may. And I still may. And I still may.
I'm gonna wait it out.
I'm gonna wait it out.
Gonna wait it out.
Gonna wait it out.0 -
