Another one to thank you for! Never seen/heard it before...made me smile.
JC was the man. I'm really impressed with some of the songs he chose to cover (and cover so damn well).
And Burl...part of my childhood.
Odd name though, when you say it out loud a few times0 -

At night I walk this stinkin' street past the crazies on my block
And I see the same old faces and I hear that same old talk
And I'm searching for the latest thing, a break in this routine
I'm talkin' some new kicks, ones like you ain't never seen
This is home, this is Mean Street
(This is) Yes-ah home, the only one I know
An' we don't worry 'bout tomorrow 'cause we're sick of these four walls
Now what you think is nothin' might be somethin' after all
Now you know this ain't no through street, the end is dead ahead
The poor folks play for keeps down here, they're the living dead
Come on down, (Huh! Ow!) down (This is) to Mean Street
They're dancin' now, look! Out on Mean Street
Dance baby!
(Guitar Solo)
It's always here and now my friend, it ain't once upon a time
It's all over but the shouting, I come to take what's mine
We're searchin' for the latest thing, a break in this routine
Talkin' some new kicks, ones like you ain't never seen
This is home, (Ooh) this is Mean Street
(This is) Yes-ah home, only one I know
(This is home) See, a gun is real easy
(This is Mean Street) in this desperate part of town
(This is home) Turns you from hunted into hunter (Yeah)
(This is Mean Street) You go an' hunt somebody down
Wait a minute, ah (This is home) Somebody said "Fair warning", Lord
(This is Mean Street) Lord, strike that poor boy down!

Love em! Though I'm so not a fan of the Hagar era
I saw them in '78...'79? In his heyday, DLR was THE man!0 -

Kool same here I saw them ALL through the early 80's I still have a 1984 Tour Of The World pin...I wonder if there's any value there?

I'm hit by a wave of nostalgia this evening. Very sweet, really - or bittersweet, I guess.
Earlier we were watching a show on muscle cars...some beautifully badass pieces of work from the 60s and 70s.
Chevelle and GTO...man oh man.
Anyway, still in that state of mind, cruising through some digital music stations on tv, got to the 70s channel.
John Denver, Calypso! So NOT badass, but reminiscent of that era.
Then they went into the Hues Corporation - Rock the Boat...extreme 70s
Not like I want to go back to those times, but the memories are dear to me. That's life, isn't it? Living it, and then remembering it.
Rinse and repeat.
It made me think of visiting family in NY during my childhood summers. Alexander's in Queens, Italian ices from the street carts, THAT FUCKING HUMIDITY THAT NEVER ENDED and the cockroaches that came out at night and scared the shit out of me when I'd get up to pee in the early morning hours.0 -

I think only a woman could come close to replicating Plant's voice0 -

A song I thought about as I went surfing this morning here in Palm Beach for my birthday yesterday...
My friend Michael Franti...Crazy, Crazy, Crazy
