If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

    I want it!

Actually, war is never over. It's human nature. It's only the stupid that resort to actually being stupid about it.

War is Over...if you want it.

actually moonbeam (*you know that's not a personal insult :)),
war is over when they want it.
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
  • I enjoyed that. Thanks.
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

Are they fighting it? They are heavily outnumbered and I believe.

I mean the modern social strata allows for disagreement, that is a healthy thing for society. That one segment of ours in America resorts to actually dropping real live bombs and sending troops 10,000 miles away to fight some idiotic idea of war there does not a war make.

What's funny about movies like this is the focus on Nixon (who was even more liberal than Bush). the lack of emphasis on JFK and LBJ....it's a complete distortion of reality...as usual, I'll be tuning this out.

So, I guess what I'm saying is, is that Iraq was never a real war.

Or, that is to say, the vernacular of war wears thin when it comes to subjecting a population to one's will.

I'm speaking of war in the terms of being hostile and using aggression and murder to defeat and/or destabilize another side. I see nothing 'human' in killing....that slips in to monsterous and animalistic to me. We humans have the compacity to love, learn, communicate and use understanding to solve our problems.

    Main Entry: 1war
    Pronunciation: 'wor
    Function: noun
    Usage: often attributive
Etymology: Middle English werre, from Anglo-French werre, guerre, of Germanic origin; akin to Old High German werra strife; akin to Old High German werran to confuse
1 a (1) : a state of usually open and declared armed hostile conflict between states or nations (2) : a period of such armed conflict (3) : STATE OF WAR b : the art or science of warfare c (1) obsolete : weapons and equipment for war (2) archaic : soldiers armed and equipped for war
2 a : a state of hostility, conflict, or antagonism b : a struggle or competition between opposing forces or for a particular end <a class war> <a war against disease>

Do you see what I'm saying PurpleHawk? Trying to get an original idea across?

Not that its even that original. I get the idea, somewhat, from Leonoard Cohen's "Come back to the War" song. I'm not even sure if that's the title.

I think this is the first time I've ever agreed with you.

Iraq is not a real war, it is an occupation. And how Bush or Cheney or anyone else can say that we have to stay until we "win" is beyond me.

Nixon was president during the time Lennon was being deported.

actually, there are parts dealing w/ lbj in it....but, as was already stated who was the president trying to deport john lennon (which is what the doc is about)? it wasn't jfk, it wasn't lbj......so you an see why nixon is so prominent? where is the distortion of reality?

I got the Doors DVD with Val Kilmer, the anniversary edition for Christmas, and as I layed down to watch it one day, before I could skip through the previews, this exact preview came on. I must have seriously watched it 6 times. The part where John is shouting through a megaphone while power to the people is playing sends chills up my spine. Now I just have to see this movie!!

To be much more optimistic and hopeful regarding the world, it's affairs and the people living in it. John was really a light for us all. His heart was full of love for humanity.

What I loved about John Lennon was that he was able to stay so positive through all the adversity. He was really quite a leader.

I watched this finally the other night, great documentary. How much we could use John's leadership and insight right now w/ the existing Iraq occupation, would really get the truth out there that the world is truly in shambles like it has never been before. He sought truth and peace because he simply believed in it all, no hidden agendas. Pure genuineness, and there's no one else like him, sadly!

    imagine = great song :)

    Imagine there's no liberals
    It's easy if you try
    No Feminazi's
    None of Billy's lies
    No environmental wackos
    Lying to our kids
You, you may not like Bill Clinton
Well, you're not the only one

Imagine the truth about the 80's
    Even if you can
    High schools without condoms
And no brand new health plan
    Imagine all the people
    Paying their own way
You, you may say I'm a dreamer
But, I'm not the only one
We should have listened to Rush Limbaugh
Then maybe George Bush might have won Bush I I think

    Imagine Hillary baking cookies
    I know it's very hard
    No lesbians playing soldier
Or dragging tracks in the yard
    What if Ronald Reagan
    Could have had four terms
You, you may say I'm a dreamer
    I'm not the only one
I hope some day you'll read "See I Told You So"
Then the world will live as one

:) i'm just bustin' 'em on yah :)
And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

I just got my copy in the mail Saturday! I'm glad you liked it. :)

I think there are people like him still but they are subjected to much more cynicism and ridicule by those who seek to discredit this kind of ideology than John had back then. He had some of it, as well...but these days people prefer to insult one another and make harsh judgements rather than exchange opinions civilly.
