honestly, no one really scares me. but i have so little free time anymore that by the time i read a thread....my 2 cents has been written by someone else so it's pointless for me to say a word. tho, cate used to cyber intimidate me a lil with her persona...but i've come to find out she's just very outspoken and pulls no punches...and that's refreshing. but she also lives down under...so if i piss her off...chances are i'll live thru it. lol
yeah but unlike 1 in 5 americans, i know where the US is. so i can come find you.

Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.
I don't mean to shit on this place or anything because I have enjoyed some of the discourse here, the problem I have is that any discussion here automatically becomes a close minded winner/loser debate instead of an open minded thought and idea exchange. They are not discussions most of the time but debates aimed at winning rather than listening and learning. There have been some good threads that have not degenerated into this but I find that is the usual pattern.
I'll second that! I always look at the forum description and wonder what the hell I'm not understanding!
A Moving Train Politics, current events - reasoned debate and discussion - we can all learn something new.
I can't see any reason for things to degenerate into the mud slinging or mental masturbation that they do, particularly given I would just like to discuss stuff and ask questions and maybe even learn something new for a change and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone. So I post in a thread or start a thread and I sit here watching the same old same old go on. :( Fisty cuffs at 50 paces!! The issue or topic at hand gets completely lost. Or some people decide today is the day they're gonna post their hatred of another all dressed up with wordiness and bullshit! Should be taken to pm. Or out the back behind the sheltershed, lunch time be there! It annoys and disappoints me in a thread with a subject that interests me and I wonder how many other people are sitting at their place reading the crap and wanting to discuss the subject and ask questions but they don't bother because they don't want the grief of interrupting the bar room brawl.
I've often contemplated that a seperate forum might be a good idea for those who want to hone their debate skills and get into mutual mental masturbation, where they can generally spread their vileness and post to their hearts content. Sorta like a Special Ed class for those that don't play well with others.
And somewhere that those that would just like to learn and discuss can go.
Sorta like a TRAIN STEROIDS and a TRAIN LITE if you will?
So Train Steroids ~ knock yourself out, kill each other, assert your mental superiority, waffle on endlessly ad infinitum, have your own little game of I'm smarter than you.
And Train Lite ~ see or start a thread about a topic that interests you, where you can discuss the issue in a pleasant, non threatening, non abusive environment, where you can know that it is NOT ALLOWED for people to call you names, or be sarcastic or mean. You can ask questions, learn new stuff and who knows, maybe even a solution might present itself or some positive action might be taken?
Yeah so get your Whack a Mole mallets out folks and come pound my head for popping up! I can't wait to hear all the reasons why that wouldn't work or how I'm being elitist or mean or not in touch with my fenimine side or some other evil personal trait that's offensive.
well let's just say, hypothetically, if i were triumph the insult comic dog you'd probably wanna marry me. that's how cool that puppet is...
so... i'm reading this book on emo called nothing feels good, trying to wade through the copious notes on dashboard confessional. and who should make an appearance on page 264 but triumph the insult comic dog. it mentions eminem pummelling him at the MTV awards and i have a total flashback. yes i am now vaguely aware of him. but still, i don't want to marry him(or you for that matter dnb. ) hypothetically or any other way.

not a fan of triumph, eh? i'll be the first to admit, i'd marry that puppet...
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.
who has challenged you the most, i guess i should've phrased the question that way.
The most, I don't know. Different people on different subjects, I guess.
and then there are people who I agree with most of the time that have also challenged me but differently, showed me new angles and perspectives, taught me new things etc.
who are you most afraid of getting into an argument with on these posts????
not that you are afraid, per se, that you'd pee your pants, but that you're actually expecting to get a really good argument from.
my picks are soulsinging (even though i can win, somtimes too ), angelica (cause i don't know what she's talking about half the time), collin (he's a very sensible thinker... kinda like me ), and catefrances (she comes off a bit scary sometimes  )
How can anyone be afraid of something or someone on the internet? Unless he/she is of the weakminded sort.

I'm not scared of anyone. The free will debates remind me of nothing more advanced than an A-level philosophy class, and they bore the shit out of me.
Well I'm glad it's not just me!
There's no one that I'm afraid of, but there are a few people I'd prefer not to engage in a debate ... not because I'm afraid of being proven wrong, that wouldn't bother me at all ... but because something about their posting style annoys me and I feel obligated to keep responding, so it gets progressively more annoying. People who pick ideas to pieces and then debate the semantics bore me straight to tears. Anyone who stoops to namecalling or other childish tactics prove to everyone that they don't have an argument, so I feel like I'm wasting my time with them. And people who claim to be experts but can't come through with the facts, or worse yet, post what they claim are facts but are actually blatant falsehoods ... well, they bring out the worst in me.

not necessarily afraid, dood. what i meant by it was if there was a person who they actually knew would put up a good argument.... since there are a lot of tuff discussions on these boards. you know what i mean...

you mean like when they say, "you are the most moronic person ever. this is the dummest thing i've ever read. you must be 9 years old." ???
yeah, i know what you mean... there are a lot of those.
i get onto the sports message boards and everybody says that very same thing over and over.... it gets pretty annoying. (but i have to admit... i've done it myself  but i do it with style )

Dont mind debating with anyone really but there is at least one person i can think of that i try and avoid replying to nowadays, as their posts are always really sarcastic, which i honestly cant be bothered with.
People say im paranoid. Well, they dont say it, but i know that's what they are thinking.
