    :p
I only vaguely remember it. I'll look it up.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.

  • I've read a theory somewhere about the Big Bang being triggered by the same chemical that creates love. :)
isn't that a part from a flaming lips song that talks about this?
This isn't the land of opportunity, it's the land of competition.

Yes! Is it from the new album? I can't remember where I read that...Vein of Stars?

no... What is the Light? is the name from the Soft Bulletin. it's found on the album inside right before the lyrics.

Thank you for assisting me with my poor memory. :)

  • "What Is the Light?" ("An Untested Hypothesis Suggesting That the Chemical (In Our Brains) by Which We Are Able to Experience the Sensation of Being in Love Is the Same Chemical That Caused the "Big Bang" That Was the Birth of the Accelerating Universe")

    What is the light
    That you have
    Shining all around you?
    Is it chemically derived?

    Cause if it’s natural
    Something glowing from inside
    Shining all around you
    It’s potential has arrived

Looking into space, it surrounds you
Love is the place that you’re drawn to
Looking into space, it surrounds you
Love is the face that you’re drawn to

    What is the light
    That you have
    Shining all around you?
    Is it chemically derived?

wow, that is a pretty convenient inference.

Most cosmologists would suggest that the big bang was a compressed cloud of Hydrogen. There are explanations how hydrogen created the other elements, but I think that's rather speculative. At any rate, pure hydrogen isn't involved in Love. Someone was on drugs when they wrote that, I'm sure.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

You choose to be dismissive of everything not already laid out for you. I choose to search for something more.

I have yet to meet a single person from our culture, no matter what his or her educational background, IQ, and specific training, who had powerful transpersonal experiences and continues to subscribe to the materialistic monism of Western science.

It's ok to search for something more, but this is blind. This is just grabbing two things and putting them together without reason. It's a convenient inference, not a realistic one. Einstein was not a mystic shaman who got high and made up theories about the universe. He was a scientist that used the scientific method to validate his theories.

"science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind ...a legitimate conflict between science and religion cannot exist." - Albert Einstein

I like the brain theory myself
That's two things we've got, Tape and Time.

I like science and reason just fine, Ahnimus. I just choose to use a better balance of inner knowledge along side with science much like Einstein.

Do you remember how electrical currents and "unseen waves" were laughed at? The knowledge about man is still in its infancy.
    - Albert Einstein

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mystical. It is the source of all true art and science.
    - Albert Einstein

Man can learn nothing except by going from the known to the unknown.
    - Claude Bernard

Knowledge is structured in consciousness. The process of education takes place in the field of consciousness; the prerequisite to complete education is therefore the full development of consciousness -- enlightenment. Knowledge is not the basis of enlightenment, enlightenment is the basis of knowledge.
    - Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

You cannot see anything that you do not first contemplate as a reality.
    - Ramtha
I believe there is no source of deception in the investigation of nature which can compare with a fixed belief that certain kinds of phenomena are impossible.

Ok, if your going to quote Ramtha, then we aren't going to see eye-to-eye on anything of this nature. Ramtha is a fraud, IMO. She may believe her experiences are true, but they are not. Or Judith Z. Knight. I'm not ignorant to these people, their beliefs and their experiences, I just think they are psychotic.

That quote by Yogi is factually inaccurate. I've endlessly cited scientific facts that refute that quote.

Einstein... *sigh*. Einstein did not believe in a personal God, he believed in Baruch Spinoza's God. Einstein said "religion without science is blind" and hence in Einstein's vain I said the inference was blind. It ignores science. It amusingly tries to tie religion and science together, but blindly so. What Einstein was saying about western science is that it ignores what is not known and a mystery. Einstein strongly believed that mystery was the spice of life and by focusing on these mysterious elements, he managed to demystify them scientifically. "Science without religion is lame" simply suggests that science without fascination of the mysterious is not a very productive tool. It's our thirst for knowledge and awe of the mysterious that makes science and effective tool.

Well, I don't see the as psychotic at all. And who are you to say if someone's experiences are real or not. Don't push your own limitations onto others. It's funny how you mostly choose to insult the authors of the quotes instead of discussing the actual quotes themselves.

You sound just like one of the ones laughing in Einstein's quote you chose to look over.

I trust myself, my intuition and never simply write those feelings off as meaningless. To do so is to miss out on the big picture of life and possibilty. Don't corner yourself with safe bets and 'proven' facts when the potential to disprove everything you think you know is vast. Keep your mind open and ready.

Einstein submitted his intuition to scientific observations.
