There are things I love about America .... the Bill of Rights, Pearl Jam, the Grand Canyon, I could go on and on for hours I'm sure. There are things I really hate about America too. I'm sure I would feel the same way if I were German or Australian or Japanese. Sure, I'm profoundly grateful that I'm not Sudanese or Iraqi or Congolese ... and again, I'm sure the citizens of many other countries feel the same way.
One thing I intensely dislike is all the "greatest country in the world" stuff. Sure, we're really great in many ways. We're not so great in others.
Imagine if you will, a man who doesnt give two shits what you believe. Imagine a man, who isnt suprised that you make judgements on people with no fact or basis to make said judgements. You open minded liberals on this board never cease to amaze me.
Id take your bet, but I doubt you own anything I'd want.
You really are a sad, pathetic little man byrnz. I ALMOST feel sorry for you.
Because he says he isn't what you picture him as, you call him names and throw in a thinly veiled threat?
There's a real tendency on this board sometimes for people to behave like vultures. It never ceases to amaze me that whenever one of these neo-cons thinks they have me on the back foot a bunch of lurkers suddenly appear out of the woodwork to start pecking at the prey.

There's vultures here from both sides.
"one of these 'neo-cons' ". Boy you sure do like labeling people.
Imagine a man, who isnt suprised that you make judgements on people with no fact or basis to make said judgements.
The fact, or basis, that supports my earlier post, and which everyone on this message board is perfectly aware of, is all of your previous posts. They exist here for everyone to see.

Show me a post that "proves" I'd celebrate any war. Please.
The only thing any of my posts prove is how easy it is to rattle and extract the hypocrisy of you "open minded", kind hearted, peace loving posters here.

I didn't say I could prove you celebrated the beginning of the Gulf war. I simply said I didn't believe you.
And whilst we're on the subject of your profound ability to expose hypocrisy...please jog my memory by providing just one instance when you have managed to expose me, for example, as a hypocrite. It shouldn't be too difficult for you. Go ahead. I'm waiting.

Like to label much?
I'm about as far from a neocon as they come, look at my past posts before you jump to conclusions... I just saw someone overreacting and I made a comment about it.

No actually I couldn't make it there unfortunately. I had a huge problem picking up my tickets and it took almost the whole afternoon to resolve. I ended up only meeting a couple people from the board but I remember you and the other Scotsman in the line.
Cool. But I'm not Scottish. Must have been the booze making me talk funny, or maybe the booze making you hear funny.

I guess you're gonna claim this isn't celebrating but it sure seems like it to me...and it's the exact same type of mentality Goldman refers to in her quote.

Nah, he's got a wicked sense of humor, but that's all.
I have to give PP a pass on this one.
I can see how Byrnzie may have been insulted on the thread, but, that happens to me all the time. When you take the high road, you have to know how to take the high road.

I don't care for his humor then. It's disgusting.
If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

that is funny?????
he was being a vulture like this when he was veddie edder, too...
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way
I know you're decent, but I have flights of freaky humor myself. I think you respect me. For the most part. I'm not saying you have to respect PP...In the scheme of things, I think...
lemme put it this way: I worked in the EMS for a year. Ambulance work, very bloody work. Gunshots, stab wounds, suicide attempts..and more deaths than I care to remember. Dead people, toes up, mouths agape, gone forever.
When you witness this, up close or from afar, especially in frequent quantities, you have to develop a sense of humor.
I remember the worst thing I ever saw. A big drunk guy had been run over by a car on a busy street. One set of tires had gone over his head, it was misshapen, oblong, one eyeball gone, brains coming out of his ears....the tires from the other side of the car went over his legs...bones sticking out, blood spurting everywhere (for a bit)...then he was dead. Because the law is the way it is, the paramedics and I (an EMT) were obligated to try to resuscitate him, until a doctor declared him dead. That was a long ride to the hospital, but we did everything we were trained to do, even though we knew it was worthless.
Thank god for the humor of the doctor. I was shaking from it all. I was still new at the time. After were relieved of our charge, signed off by the ER nurse, and while we were doing our paperwork the doctor came out, dropped down on his back to the floor, laughing, with all fours up in the air. It broke the tension. It stopped my shaking, my shock, it made me laugh.
Inappropriate?
Well...
I don't think so.

I understand the whys and wherefores of paramedics indulging in such things. Sure. But this really has absolutely no relation to Paperplates and his persistent, gung-ho horseshit. No relation at all. He's been cheering the warmongers ever since I've been posting on this board. His 'humour' is aimed at those on the receiving end and is a way of dehumanizing them, and of baiting other posters.
I'd really love to express myself more clearly on this matter but then I'd probably get banned.

I get it from the other gung-ho's. Paperplates has never annoyed me personally. Or, at least not enough for me to remember.
You were defending Paperplates' comments below. What would you expect in return? A pat on the back? A beer?
I didn't know that I needed anyone's permission to make a comment on a public message board... I guess I learn something new everyday. Me and my 5,000 posts will go back to "lurking".
And I wasn't defending his comments or him(hell, I disagree with 95% of what he says around here). I was just taking issue with your:
How easy it is to be a tough guy on a message board. I really hope I meet you in person some time.
And I thought it was humorous that you criticized him for being a tough guy on a message board, then in the very next sentence made a message board tough guy threat. Good stuff

Yep you got me. Celebratory posts for sure. In fact, i danced a jig whilst typing those.
Those arent celebratory. While you may dislike the content, most were simply intentional "radical posts" in response to just as radical opposing posts. Because you don't like what I say when I fire you up, A) doesnt mean I condone war, and doesnt mean I celebrate it.
a msg from Brynzie who got a ban for 1 post on this thread today
"You have been banned for the following reason:
Rude comments to others. Making personal comments instead of just debating the issue.
Seriously. I wish they would point out where I was rude. This really pisses me off. Read the 'No patriotism' thread and tell me where I was rude. This makes wanna just blow the whole fucking board out altogether."
"Seriously, read that thread and tell me why I should have been banned. They've banned me for stating the truth about Paperplates. I notice that they couldn't actually quote a post of mine which warranted a banning.
I'd appreciate it if you could post my above comments on the M.T to let people know how I feel about this, although I'd understand if you didn't want to."
