Also I'm pretty sure Obama isn't saying we should invade Afghanistan.....seeing as how we've been fighting a war there for years.

The people who don't vote are completely irrelevant. They have no institutional power because they choose not to. Ultimately I could care less.

You insist that both parties are the same but you don't really mention anything besides foreign policy (and trade I guess. Going back to a pre-Nafta/bretton woods world would be like going to a pre-roe v wade world, not gonna happen). You refuse to acknowledge any of the differences the two parties have on a host issues, several of which I mentioned. If Healthcare, Education, Taxes - whatever - aren't important to you, thats fine. But to act like they don't exist, and that Republicans and Democrats don't come down on very different sides of those issues is just juvenile.

McCain does not want to be at war for 100 years. He made a point about the US having troops in countries for a long time, but not in a fighting sense ...

Again, McCain doesn't want to be at war for 100 years, and when you use this line, it discredits much of you have to say because people focus in on it.

That being said I think McCain's temperament could land us in a war that would last 100 years. Just sayin'

    Oh...I'm sorry...I apologize

John McCain wants to be in Iraq until we have won the war on terror.

    Hmmm

I guess we are going to be in Iraq for a long long time. 100 years is being optomistic.

ok, if you want to say he is a win at all costs kind of guy which scares you, that's a defensable point ... as I just posted elsewhere ...

well, McCain does mention "Victory" a lot ... so much so that the McCain campaign's stump speeches are VERY harsh on Barack Obama for not using the word "victory" ... then they couple Obama's failure to use the word victory with his nay vote on the funding bill with no timeline to question his patriotism.

But McCain feels the need to claim "Victory", he's said it, over and over ... yet, the leader of our forces, General Petraeus has said flat out, he never would use the term "victory" in Iraq ...

I just meant, the entire album is about ways to deal with war and the world. Defiance and living in the now-life wasted, being so stressed out you have trouble sleeping-unemployable, drugs-severed hand, and finally inside job describes knowing the only way to change things is through changing yourself, and knowing "its an inside job" today, as opposed to fighting the world's injustices.

Oh jesus, I never thought I'd end up using such an inane band to quote in a situation like this but here goes:

"Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock n' roll band and throw it all away"

Anyone who bases political decisions on the opinions held and themes discussed by a rock band shouldn't be allowed a vote. It's somewhat more important than that.
"I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"

Wow "forced to watch"? Does your TV not have a remote with an off button or something?

well, I was just wanting the tv on at the time. it was evening and that is the only time I really have it on and I was upset that unless I wanted to go on the ondemand thing and pick a movie or show, I was forced to listen to this. I was more listening than watching. It was like background noise.

yeah, I could have turned it off.
Baby, You Wouldn't Last a Minute on The Creek......

I havent viewed one major speech by obama, mccain, palin or biden. I havent seen any of the debates. I havent followed it. And frankly I could care less.

Two sides of the same coin. Both parties are the same. Our brothers and sisters will fight in an unjust war under a Obama Biden or Mccain palin administration. Its just the way it is. Either its in Iraq or Afghanistan. Stop losses will continue. You really think you can convince soldiers who have come home and gone back to combat 4 or 5 times, to go and fight in Afghanistan? I think not. Its the same phoney immoral war. Just a different country and battlefield.

Its almost comical how easy it is to say right on things. Ed or Bruce or Neil do it all the time. Yet these politicians, these ones running, continue to weasle, lie, and go straight down the middle.

In the end, one party loses, one potential administration will not get to rule. But overall we all lose. We all lose out on a chance to end this war. A chance to get rid of NAFTA and the WTo. A chance to save the environment. A chance. Whats funny is everyone got suckered into a change.

Nothing changes, if Obama or Mccain wins. Wars will still rage. The environment will still be nearing depletion. Meanwhile some people take action...

Yes but he has said, and Obama that they are committed to fighting terrorism to wherever they need to take it, be it as long as it takes. Now let's do some simple arithmetic...

What do you think is going to happen when you keep dropping bombs and murdering people in other countries? It gets better? Murder is peace? You think people in other countries like this activity and will not rise up against it?

Do some people honestly think basic instincts and human nature itself in these countries will just bend on it's ear because these guys get elected?

I mean c'mon....it's a con. I wish more people would look into their countries past (US esp.) see through it for what it really is. It's been going on for a a really long time now all over the world, and It's called empire building.

To be honest it's pretty pathetic. People have been sold on this war on terror so thoroughly they can't tell their asses from a voting booth.

    Depends who you ask....

    Obama...check.... McCain...double check.

As far as "viable" or "worthy" (*cough* American Idol meets Britney meets car salesmen) candidates go. The top two are going hunting for the heads of jilted brown people regardless.

Third party, and some early candidates were talking sense in this regard...but they're all put to sleep...they don't have that killer instinct that brings back the wild west.

Either way...It seems people these days in the US are really quite comfortable using their tax dollars to murder Arabs overseas.

The front page of the July 10 edition of the "Talkeetna Times" reflected
    the town's busy summertime flavor.
A sizeable crowd was expected at the Moose Dropping Festival, where
thousands watch preserved poop dropped on a bull's-eye. Two climbers died on
Mount McKinley, sad news for this, the last civilized stopover before base
    camp.

But it was a two-page advertisement from an out-of-state religious group
at the newspaper's center that's still got the town talking.
"LIBERTY OF CONSCIENCE THREATENED," blares a headline above a photograph
of President Bush bowing as he clasps the hand of Pope Benedict XVI. "SUNDAY
WILL BE ENFORCED AS THE MARK OF THE BEAST."

Another photo shows a billboard bearing the words, "Saturday the TRUE
    Lord's Day. Changed by Antichrist."

The Florida-based Eternal Gospel Church, a splinter group of the Seventh
Day Adventist Church with a reputation for controversy, bought the ad. It
accuses the Catholic Church of pressing for enforcement of Sunday "blue"
laws regulating moral activities. Seventh Day Adventists believe Saturday is
    the Sabbath.

Its hard not to take seriously the opinion of someone commenting on the campaigns and the state of the country when they start their post by saying "I haven't read or followed any of it".
