How was Mccain tortured in Vietnam?

  • come on Roland you know it bad politics in this case. You think he would have been a Senetor for this long he was unstable? With people like Rupert Murdock and Reverand Moonie Loonie around? McCain would have been toast a long time ago. And you know it!

Becoming President is like turning up the amplification on idiosyncrasies, so to speak, as more responsibility is given and to much greater stresses. It's a bit different, and a lot of people would want as stable and unaffected person as possible making such broad policy decisions. The guy has been affected by it, there is no escaping that part. Dig a lot deeper under more pressure, and who knows how he reacts. Repression tends to surface under duress. It will hurt his chances.

You mean like GW, who probably never worked a hard day in his life before being elected? Experience under pressure counts, and I think it's safe to say McCain probably knows a lot more about keeping it cool under pressure than the average privileged politician.

Some kids get bullied through school and show up one day with a shotgun. Others chalk it up to life and move on. People react differently to stress. The fact that McCain endured traumatic circumstances does not mean he needs a prozac prescription and a meeting with his therapist every week.

If he does have a cool head, he should show more of it....he wants to wage war if it means 100 or even 1000 more years of fighting.

Sounds really cool headed to me.

It doesn't matter who gets elected, that war will not end for years. At least McCain is honest about it.

Stupid is believing politicians who say otherwise.

Stupid is voting for those who say they aren'tt even willing to try in any way shape or form.

I will try. It was a fucked up war that the politicians wanted and ran and therefore led to the US being embarassed. Sounds familiar....

let me guess, you got that from you tube. listen to the whole clip and what he was talking about is that just like we are in Korea and other places still after the war the odds are we are going to be in Iraq for a long time too.

The question is definitely relevant if it makes him a prime candidate for emotional issues.

Looking at how he's running...he still thinks he in the war to fight "the gooks" so to speak.

I'd say he's been affected. He has an axe to grind....probably still has nightmares about it also.

wow i didn't know that you read minds too.

which if you read anything about th econtext of that statement instead of just watching the 10 second viewing on YOuTube, you would understand what he really said.

You can't argue with Roland... he obviously knows more than any of us here, and as a anonymous rock band message board poster, he knows more about foreign policy and how the world works than any other world leader or great thinker of our time....

i know he had most of his teeth broken out and was tortured pretty much daily for most of the time. it also explained how the guards tried to get prisoners to turn on each other and one guard was a real bastard in particular. He could have gotten released earlier but refused offers to be taken before a few others. his hair turned white. tough mother fucker. thats all i know.

well, clearly his arms were affected. he carries them in a way that suggests they were broken or otherwise traumatized.

i think he is a tough mf-er, too, which is one reason why i wouldn't weep if he won the presidency, tho i'm a democrat. at least if this guy sent us into war, he'd have a fucking clue what was in store for our troops. unlike dubya, who apparently gets all his info from hogan's heroes reruns.

I think the initial poster had a valid question. Considering a good percentage of our vets are coming back from Iraq too fucked in the head to hold a steady job it seems, being held as a POW and tortured for years seems to be a bit more stressful. I don't consider this smearing, not in this context. Should that not be taken into consideration?
