I just read that NYT article. I actually don't think her joke was that bad.

"After coming out of video showing a drum-beating mixed-race crowd chanting about Neely’s death, McEnany said “Justice or burn it down — well at least they have rhythm,” evoking a stereotype about Black people."

According to that, they were apparently using a drum as part of the chant, and she commented about the rhythm. I haven't seen the video, but based on the description, you have a dream-beating protest and someone comments on the rhythm, that's not that big of a deal. Find something else to get upset over.
Who said I was upset? Just pointing out facts.
I wasn't actually referring to you. Just the people "blasting" her.

    it's a dog whistle
    All they have are dogwhistles

    And lies
    And conspiracy theories
    They also have stochastic terrorism.

We're seeing more & more of it every day.
the common term is 'Twitter'.  Don't get all "book learning" on us.

From the description I took it as her mocking the protest itself, not the protestors or their race.

Which I agree with to some extent. Innocent people are getting beaten and killed every day. Elderly people are sucker punched, beaten and sometimes killed for absolutely nothing with almost no attention given to it at all. This doesn't seem like someone who was out to beat or kill someone. Seems like he tried to take things into his own hands and took it too far.

Just seems like an odd case to make it your calling and stop the trains over. That's how I interpret that comment, and I would agree. I didn't take it as a racial jab.

Lachlan Murdoch explains settlement, says no change at Fox
    By DAVID BAUDER
    Today

NEW YORK (AP) — Fox News paid $787 million to settle a recent lawsuit on its reporting after the 2020 election to avoid a divisive trial and lengthy appeals process, its parent company's chief executive said on Tuesday.

Lachlan Murdoch, executive chairman and CEO of Fox Corp., also noted that a Delaware judge “severely limited” Fox's defenses against Dominion Voting Systems, which said the network defamed it by airing bogus charges of election fraud that it knew was untrue.

Fox Corp. announced Tuesday that it had lost $50 million the previous three months, which it attributed to the lawsuit settlement. Murdoch, who answered questions from financial analysts, was speaking in public for the first time since the case ended and Fox fired its most popular anchor, Tucker Carlson.

Murdoch said viewers, and investors, should expect no change in direction from Fox News.

“We made the business decision to resolve this dispute and avoid the acrimony of a divisive trial and multi-year appeal process, a decision clearly in the best interests of the company and its shareholders,” he said.

Fox still believes it was properly exercising its First Amendment rights to report on newsworthy fraud allegations made by former President Donald Trump, even though that defense was shot down in a pre-trial court ruling in the Dominion case, Murdoch said.

That's important, since Murdoch said Fox intends to use the same defense against a similar lawsuit by another elections technology company, Smartmatic. That case is not expected to go to trial until at least 2025, he said.

Despite being asked directly about Carlson's exit, Murdoch didn't mention the former prime-time host's name and referred to his reign obliquely. Fox has not explained why it cut ties with Carlson.

“There's no change in programming strategy at Fox News,” he said. “It's obviously a successful strategy. As always, we are adjusting our programming and our lineup and that's what we continue to do.”

Fox and Dominion Voting Systems reached a $787 million settlement Tuesday in the voting machine company’s defamation lawsuit, averting a trial. (April 18)

Although hurt by the Carlson exit, Fox News remains the leading cable news network.

Fox has lost viewers following Carlson's firing. Last week's substitute host, Lawrence Jones, reached between 1.28 million and 1.7 million last week in a time slot where Carlson usually drew around 3 million, the Nielsen company said.

Yet Fox has gained more than 40 new advertisers in that hour, the network said, confirming a report in Variety. Advertisers like Gillette, Scott's Miracle Gro and Secret deodorant that had considered Carlson's show a toxic environment have signed on.

Which begs the question, why do cable providers agree to their terms?  It must be because they are also OK with the messaging of the programs.  Money talks as they say and if cable companies allow fox to charge what they charge and advertisers continue buying airtime, that to me is an endorsement of the programming.

You side tracked me.  The point I was making is that any advertiser that decides to start advertising now on fox just because tucker is gone is endorsing the rest of the programming and messaging.  Which basically means they shied away from a controversial figurehead, but not the actual messaging and views of Fox News nor tucker's programming.  What changed that Gillete, Scotts, and others now feel ok being affiliated with Fox News?  Nothing really. One guy is out behind the desk, but the rage machine continues rolling down the tracks.

Looks like Elon Musk is giving Tucker a show on his totally non partisan app.
Well at least he won't have the reach he had on FOX
Wouldn't be a surprise to see Elon fudge the numbers to make it seem like he does

44 million views if stats are to be believed...more than fox?
    Where are you getting 44MM?
It's up to 87 million right now. You can see it either on the app or twitter website.

HOWEVER, I have read that Twitter considers someone merely clicking on a video for a few seconds now to count as a view.

I assumed that was always the case for any internet video. Was it not?

Almost positive that’s how it is for YouTube also. No chance you have to watch a complete video for it to count as a view.

If you click the tweet and it takes you to the page it shows "view" count.  Not surprising considering he now has a worldwide platform and can presumably start saying whatever he wants to whomever he wants.

this is a way for elon to get roi by grifting the griftable.
What does Elon have to do with it other than owning the platform.  My understanding is that anyone can start a program on twitter?

    Mine shows 19MM views.

Also, people like all of us are viewing it, where we would not put on Fox News.  So I'm not willing to jump to the conclusion that a full show will have 20, 40MM full views of 'fans'.

Now I see the 103, but also 21. What's the difference between the two counts?

The 103M is how many people saw the tweet. Even if they were just scrolling past it. The 21M is how many times the video was viewed.
