Because facts don’t bear me out? Because the repubs consistently strike fear in their base’s hearts by promoting fear of the other or the mad libs are coming to take your guns away and give free stuff to the “other.” At least my caricature is based in fact. Clinging to their guns and religion is not far off the mark.Ledbetterman10 said:
When you say "Quick, go out and buy another gun," it's consistent with a lot of your posts that paint you as a liberal caricature that the Fox (or Faux) News commentators use to rile up their viewers. I know, I know: those viewers are just bible-thumping, gun-toting, Trump-loving idiots so to hell with them. But you're a poster-child of everything that the Sean Hannitys of the world LOVE: a condescending liberal that can be painted as an "elitist" to his viewers.Halifax2TheMax said:
None of the ideas are new except for maybe abolishing ICE, which I’m not sure they actually believe in, being faux news and all and which I don’t agree with. Yeah but where you would say they (conservatives) cling to their guns and religion, they would say you (liberals) are lazy and want everything for free. I personally hate those sort of generalizations. Obviously.....you and I are on different pages on that.Halifax2TheMax said:

What's this "would" nonsense? They say it. Constantly. Probably more than we do. This is an echo chamber so you see a lot more of the unfair comments from us pinkos, but go into a right-wing echo chamber, or hell, just go into Twitter, and you'll see that "they" are throwing that shit around like crazy.Ledbetterman10 said:

the problem is that with many conservatives is that no matter what the liberal say or so they will always say that. Just look at Obama.Ledbetterman10 said:

that was his point. he said "would" on both sides. I have to agree with ledbetterman on this one. I think the generalizations are tired and not helpful to the general discussion.OnWis97 said:

So, if being a liberal elitist means being more inclusive, making healthcare and education affordable, or god forbid fee, having sensible gun laws, helping those less fortunate, including immigrants, and seeing more women and minorities in positions of power, whether elected or otherwise, and stamping out discrimination based on gender, sexual preference, race, etc. then I proudly wear the "liberal elitist" label. I have no interest in going back to the 1950's and I don't believe white males are an endangered species or deserve special protection. $1.5 trillion to corporate elitists who didn't and don't need it. When will the gun owners drive the change that we need to see? The NRA should be out of business by now and their elected representatives out of office. But, you know, fear.Ledbetterman10 said:

Yeah all the liberal stuff you just listed is fine and well. What makes you an "elitist" is your generalizations about people. Believe it or not, there are people in this country that believe in everything you just rattled off...and still voted for Donald Trump.Halifax2TheMax said:
So, if being a liberal elitist means being more inclusive, making healthcare and education affordable, or god forbid fee, having sensible gun laws, helping those less fortunate, including immigrants, and seeing more women and minorities in positions of power, whether elected or otherwise, and stamping out discrimination based on gender, sexual preference, race, etc. then I proudly wear the "liberal elitist" label.

I don’t believe that for a second, that someone who believes in all of those things voted for Team Trump Treason or that they’re liberal. Butt hurt Bernie bro exacting revenge on Hillary maybe but not a “liberal." And like I haven’t or the left/Dems/liberals haven’t been overly generalized in the last 30-40 years? Guess we’re supposed to “play nice,” and continue losing. Funny how when a libtardaplorable such as myself speaks up, I get shouted down and yet “conservatives” have been doing it since forever and nary a peep. Again, hypocrisy is thick in these parts.Ledbetterman10 said:

And, yeah, it's a bit of a "whatabout" but today's internet is full of silly names (libtard, cuck, etc.), means, blank-faced drawings, bumper stickers that say "you don't see a Hillary sticker on a car going to WORK," etc. I guess I wouldn't call these kinds of generalizations "elitism" but that doesn't make them favorable to what we've been going round and round about here.1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine

No I don't think liberals should continue to "play nice." And of course I understand that liberals are generalized too. That's why before (not sure which thread it was) I said that the people that you call gun-toting and bible-thumping would likely call you a lazy liberal. As for hypocrisy, I guess you're implying I'm hypocritical but I'm not. If one of the conservatives around here acted like you (applying tags like "racist" to the 60 million people that didn't vote the way they did), I'd call them out too. Unsung not withstanding...he's just trolling and not worth the effort. I take you seriously though I don't always agree. He's just trying to get a rise out of people and can't be taken seriously.

See? I never said 60MM were racist, etc. I spelled out, repeatedly, what and how the numbers broke out. I’ve also asked, repeatedly, that if they’re not but continue to support Team Trump Treason, how or what should we label them as. But thanks for generalizing me. I guess this where I should accuse people of not being able to read and/or comprehend? So, are conservatives that continue to support Team Trump Treason racist? The 35-40% that make up is ardent base, IMHO, are.Ledbetterman10 said:

Eh...I still contend more of them have been duped by a professional scam artist than are racist. And that's not to say that I think there are no racist Trump supporters. Or that Trump doesn't stroke the flames of racism more than anyone since Hitler...because he does. But this "ardent base" you speak of (which I assume are the rally-goers or MAGA hat-wearers), I think a good amount of them have become "fans" of Trump. And they like him so much that they've oblivious to all the negative aspects of his presidency. That's fandom for ya though.Halifax2TheMax said:
No I don't think liberals should continue to "play nice." And of course I understand that liberals are generalized too. That's why before (not sure which thread it was) I said that the people that you call gun-toting and bible-thumping would likely call you a lazy liberal. And both them and you would be wrong.Halifax2TheMax said:
Yeah all the liberal stuff you just listed is fine and well. What makes you an "elitist" is your generalizations about people. Believe it or not, there are people in this country that believe in everything you just rattled off...and still voted for Donald Trump.Halifax2TheMax said:

As for hypocrisy, I guess you're implying I'm hypocritical but I'm not. If one of the conservatives around here acted like you (applying tags like "racist" to the 60 million people that didn't vote the way they did), I'd call them out too. Unsung not withstanding...he's just trolling and not worth the effort. I take you seriously though I don't always agree. He's just trying to get a rise out of people and can't be taken seriously.

Well whatever it is. Frankly, I don't know why I'm taking the time to defend a group of people that I mostly disagree with anyway. It's not like a bunch of Trump supporters are going to show up at my door with gifts saying "Hey thanks for saying we're not all racist on that band website you go on."Halifax2TheMax said:
