July 7, 2007 -- ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Presidential candidate Ron Paul today won the Coalition for New Hampshire Taxpayers (CNHT) straw poll at their annual picnic in Hopkinton, New Hampshire. Dr. Paul received 182 of 294 votes cast, or 65 percent. In second place was Rudy Giuliani with 24 votes, or 8 percent.

"Today's strong victory is further proof that Dr. Paul's message is resonating throughout New Hampshire," said campaign manager Lew Moore. "Dr. Paul is the only candidate in this race truly dedicated to smaller government and lower taxes for all Americans."

CNHT is a statewide, grassroots organization dedicated to reducing the size of government at all levels, stopping judicial activism, providing students and parents with a choice of educational opportunities, expanding job markets, and protecting property rights.

Well, it's certainly not going to get any press from the Bush stooges because of Paul's stance on the Iraq Debacle.

clarification: Ron Paul only won a straw poll conducted by the Coalition for New Hampshire Taxpayers at a picnic with less than 300 people attending.

Geez, when did your spin cycle change to fluff???

Any organization can have an official-sounding name and conduct a straw poll. You can easily find an organization to conduct a straw poll that will have Obama and Hilary get most of the votes.

Just because an organization conducted a poll and the results got published, it doesn't necessarily hold any credibility.

Read the description of the CNHT...not exactly an impartial organization!

The Bush stooges in the media (it's not just Faux News) will surely be using the word traitor to describe Paul before too long.

see, this is why it's never a good idea to argue with a fanboy. You can't convince them that they're wrong. No matter the evidence, no matter the logic, their love of Ron Paul defies everything.

Your astroturfed numbers are irrelevant and your candidate is irrelevant.

yeah, this reminds me of when ralph nader won the ohio columbus chapter of peta sock hop poll in 99... we all knew he was going to take the general election!

not that im opposed to ron paul... id be happy as a pig in shit if he was the republican candidate, but it's not like this is any indication that he's a lock or even a serious contender. the taxpayer thing is a group built to support his agenda.

My ideal ticket is Obama/Richardson. I think Obama has the same youthful JFK enthusiasm that Clinton had in '92. And you're not going to find anybody with more foreign policy experience than Bill Richardson.

You know, normally I'm all for supporting the lesser known candidates (esp my man Dennis) but these Ron Paul fanatics go around acting like you just don't see the light if you're not supporting him. On space it's especially annoying and it's starting to leak over to here. It's just stuff like 'Wake up! Can't you see how Ron Paul is the only candidate worth supporting!!' You're just not using your brain if you don't vote for him.' Ugh...that shit really turns me off and gets old so fast. It's one thing to look into all the candidates, ask questions, debate about their records and stances. But these guy just want to shove ron Paul down your throat and most of the time refuse to even debate about it. (refering to myspace here). Some of them will be posting about social programs or global warming one minute and Ron Paul the next...it's a little confusing. There are some other good choices out there besides Ron 'The God' Paul.

exactly! Hell, I voted for Nader in 2000 AND 2004, so I'm all for third-party darkhorses. But at the same time you've gotta be realistic.

And the fanboys distract from the real issues, such as, why is Mitt Romney so sexy??? :D

I hear you, and on the other side of the coin, you have folks you will do the same, but on the other side...like jumping on every Ron Paul thread and saying he has not chance and that you're wasting your time, and blah blah blah...

I do know what you're saying, but RP is at least energizing folks...and for me, I respect that...

I don't care for being realistic :D...I'm gonna vote my conscience. But the way so many of these Ron Paul supporters go about it makes me just wanna tune it out. When ffg or mammasan were posting about him they used reason and debated well...they didn't resort to the same tactics as the fanatics.

Oh me too..I just wish his supporters who use a more rational style when spreading awareness about him. I wanna hear about the big picture from them. What about healthcare, social programs, environmental protection? I don't need to hear for the millionth time how he's gonna shut down the IRS.
