I remember people saying it was the 'End of Days' in the 1980s as the Cold War was in full geat... when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan... and Ayatollah Khomeini was declared the Anti-Christ.
And I bet the people thought it was the 'End of Days' when the Atom Bomb was born... and when the horrors of World War I appeared... and when the the Spanish flu hit... and when the Black Plague hit...
    ...
If you think about it... religion uses fear as it's basic method to keep people in line. Don't do this or that because if you do... Hell is your fate. And the term... 'God Fearing'... shit, it has the word 'FEAR' right in it. You should FEAR GOD. I think it is ALWAYS the 'End Of Days' as long as there is a preacher that truely wants it to happen.
Eventually, there WILL be an End of Days... which will be a result of the planet's natural course through the Universe.

I believe that when the hurting and the pain has gone
We will be strong, Oh yes we will be strong
And I believe that if I'm crying while I write these words
Is it absurb ? Or am I being real
I believe that if you knew just what these tears were for
They would just pour like every drop of rain
That's why I believe it is too late for anyone to believe
I believe that if you thought for a moment, took your time
You would not resign yourself to your fate
And I believe that if it's written in the stars, that's fine
    I can't deny that I'm a Virgo too
I believe that if your bristling while you hear this song
I could be wrong or have I hit a nerve ?
That's why I believe it is too late for anyone to believe
I believe that maybe somewhere in the darkness
In the nighttime, In the storm
    In the casino
    Casino spanish eyes
I believe, no I can't believe that every time you hear a new born scream
You just can't see the shaping of a life
    The shaping of a life

Well the oldest calendar is from the Mayans, and they have it ending in May of 2012.
I heard the 23 december 2012 (very accurate, I know ;)). Whatever my feeling of superstitions I will be having a big party the 21st.

what will you be doing on the 22nd? :p

And also... any heads up on approximately what time we're talking about here? If they can pinpoint the date thousands of years early... surely they can at least predict an approximate time. If it's nighttime... we have the entire day to 'finish up' but if it's first thing in the morning :o

My understanding is that 2012 will usher in a new consciousness, beyond time. The end of the world as we know it.

Consciousness beyond ego. Apocolypses of all sorts indicate the ongoing ultimate human battle, of resolving the inner conflicts and rising to a 'higher' level of wholeness. Of being reborn. It is only through the death of the ego - or who we think we are - that we transcend into who we really are.

    The two eyes become one.

  • When the preacher man says it's the end of time, I think it's more like the end of times for the preacher man.

    Preacher man gotta go!
Progress is not made by everyone joining some new fad,
and reveling in it's loyalty. It's made by forming coalitions
over specific principles, goals, and policies.

They actually leave some suspense to the thing, I just hope it's not some midnight countdown à la y2k bug. And as cliche as it sounds I'll be spending my 22nd with my loved ones. Nursing my hangover.

that's exactly what I'd be doing too :) if I could drag them all onto a nice beach to just sit there together and wait for the world together, even better... but I'll go where I'm told :)
