Languages are important, and I think it's a good idea to have kids learning another language in school.

i don't speak Spanish. Its probably a little to late for me. i would love for my kids to learn. i hope they do. It only makes sense. If your kids have the ability to learn to speak Spanish, and you don't encourage them to due to naivete and racial prejudice, so be it. But its a dumb move.

Yep...it will only help them in the future. Learning another language gives you another tool in your skill set. Making your life easier as well as opening up many more doors.

I don't support politicians deliberately misleading groups of voters in order to get votes and then once in office, abandons those promises. Do you? It's okay to lie and misrepresent yourself in order to gain power? Really?? I wonder what kind of leader we will get in someone who pushes aside integrity and honesty to sell himself as something he isn't?
All they have to do on the campaign trail is be honest about themselves. They don't have to stay home for that.

I can't access youtube from my work, but I am familiar with the statement you seem to be talking about. I can't tell, does the youtube clip also state the entire quote?
I believe Obama carries on to say:

The campaign trail is a slippery slope because you're trying to win an election. That will take the majority to vote for you. That also means trying to convince two opposite sides to vote for you for example Labor Unions and CEO's opposed to Unions.
That's why I don't really pay attention to what is said on the campaign trail. I feel the debates is where they lay out there true policies to the people and that is what we should hold them to.
I also feel that in the digital age bits and pieces of speeches are taken from the campaign trail to prove one sides argument without publishing the full speech. So I just ignore the campaign trail completely.

Easy there tiger.
I took four years of Spanish, only because they stopped offering German and I wouldn't take French. I'm now taking Polish and Russian, plus I can hold a decent conversation in Estonian and Latvian.
So get off the high horse.
I think everyone should learn another language, if they so choose to. I don't need some empty suit telling me that my kids (if I had any) should learn Spanish.

Educate yourself on La Raza, what it means, and then we can talk.
I do know what La Raza means and there is no evidence that they promote illegal immigration or separatist behavior, just rumors spread from select Conservatives.
And it is a national organization so of course Obama and McCain would campaign to them them because if one of them didn't they risk losing the Latino vote.
