    You are correct...
The Iran/Iraq War was 1980-1988... Gulf War was 1991-1992. He DID have and use the weapons in and after those conflicts.
But, guess what? In 1992, U.S. lead U.N. weapons inspectors rooted out and destroyed the 'stockpiles' that remained and shutdown weapons development.
    ...
And if you believe that these SCUD missles were smuggled out of Iraq in 2003, as that website claims... how stupid do you think our military has to be? I mean, we are on a ramp up to War and we don't have the resources or intelligence to keep an eye on traffic along those long stretches of highway? Our military intelligence and all of their personel, along with our Air Force fighter pilots have to be complete idiots to have missed SCUD missiles traveling along those highways.
I'm not buying it. I don't think our military people are idiots. They were keeping an eye on Iraq since 1991. To believe this to be true means that you believe Saddam Hussein and his military are smarter than us. I ain't buying it.

What about Russia? It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Russian Special Forces helped the Iraqi military smuggle those weapons out of Iraq. Or even Syrian or Egyptian assistance wouldn't surprise me. After all, most people here understand that Air Force or no Air Force, or eyes on the ground in the Middle East have been all but non-existent over the last ten years. Wouldn't you agree? Many ex-CIA field agents have even admitted to our lack of eyes on the ground over there.

Or, like I've said before, it would be pretty easy to hide those weapons anywhere out in the desert. You have to remember that we only have 140,000 troops occupying a city that is the size equivalant of Los Angeles, with the population to match. Those weapons could be hard to find.

I don't look at it as our military personnel being dumb, but rather Saddam being a sneaky bastard, and a liar.

Nice post though, I see your point.

Yeah, I understand where you are coming from... hiding and/or smuggling a small number of weapons with assistance from outside intelligence agencies. As far as large numbers of shipments goes, it either means that their intelligence out smarted ours... or we are the stupidest military in the world.
Also, from the source quoted, this occurred in the early part of 2003, as the U.S. ramped up for the war. We surely had Army and Marine recon forces on the ground well in advance of that to identify command and control centers and communications centers as well as Iraqi troop and armoured movements. Our Air Force was covering the skies and tracking ground movements. For them to move large numbers of SCUD missiles would be extremely difficult to impossible with the resources available to them, versus the resources available to us. Plus, remember... we had weapons inspectors over there for months before they were told to evacuate.
We knew exactly where the Iraqi Army was down to the last Toyota pick-up truck outfitted with a 20mm cannon... and blew them up where they sat. We can keep track of Iraqi jeeps, but can't keep up with a SCUD Missile launcher and all of its support vehicles? Please, don't tell me our troops are as dumb as Senator Kerry says they are.
Hussein was a buffoon. He always said shit like, 'Mother of all Battles' and 'Rivers of blood of the infidels'... but, couldn't back up shit. It seems his threats of Weapons of Mass Destruction were more to keep Iran at bay and the Shi'ite majority oppressed, rather than attacking us. That idiot is in no way... smarter than we are.

i don't know. there are plenty of folks that believe that a shadow government within the US sponsored and pulled off 9.11. the evidence that feeds these folks seems as shoddy as this evidence of Iraqi WMDs. *shrugs*

i find it funny that people latch on to blaming bush when he's really just the figurehead...it's much deeper than bush...you might be able to accomplish something when you can focus your energies on digging around the graveyard, so to speak, rather than finger-pointing at ONE person.

I think that if Powell would have had his way we would have never invaded Iraq. Powell was the only voice of reason among a ship of fools.
