I am a Ron Paul supporter for president in '08. I was just wondering what the PJ crowd thinks of a candidate like him. Yes he's a republican but he is nothing like the neo-cons such as Bush. Check him out if you haven't heard of him yet. his website is http://www.ronpaul2008.com or watch some of his youtube videos

no chance of winning, but thanks for posting. he's a republican from texas, and based on LBJ and GWB i think there should be a moratorium on texans getting to be president for awhile....

i am just kidding of course. but what is past is prologue.

I would still be supporting Ron Paul if it weren't for overwhelming wave of crackpots, with childlike visions of irresponsibility dancing in their heads, that have come out of the woodwork this past year for Ron Paul.

Name one candidate that doesn't have a gaggle of douchbags supporting him/her. Don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

I disagree. The ratio of gaggles to R. Paul is greater than the other candidates.

You may be right. But I think Obama and Kucinich both have large gaggles of douchebags surrounding them as well. Ultimately, you have to look at the candidate rather than the supporters.

I agree with you on that point. Ron Paul is not a good candidate.

That's exactly what is so fun about politics. Ron Paul is nearly the ideal (minus the religious/moral shit) candidate for me.

So naturally you'd be opposed to the federal government wasting taxpayer dollars on bridges and roads. The normal Republican view would be that that is a state issue.

Apparently I'm not normal. I've never voted for a local republican congressional candidate (most of them are idiots and too conservative), have never voted for a national democratic congressional candidate, have never voted for a republican governor and have never voted for a republican as president. Oh, and I'm partially responsible for the teaching of creationism in Kansas (sorry about that.)

I'm opposed to idiots who don't see the value in spending money. Maybe I'm not such a good republican after all.

Yeah I read about that... One quote in particular stood out from a woman that attended " I really feel so guilty for not supporting Giuliani but you know...duh....drool...." as she chomped on her plate of free BBQ chicken potato chips and baked beans...

Here we go again...America the hopelessly retarded voting for whomever looks better purely at face value...meaning above the shoulders at face value.

Too bad extremely few in America are using what's above their shoulders...

How do you figure that interstate highways are a state issue?

Sheesh, even the most conservative people that want to wipe out virtually all of the federal government will say that maintaining the infrastructure is a legitimate role, along with providing for our national defense.

for all his alleged "support", Ron Paul performed pretty poorly. Sure, he got a whopping 9%, but that's because 2 of the top 3 candidates didn't even officially participate in the straw poll to begin with. He was beaten out by both Tom Tancredo (who's a one trick pony: Immigration) and Sam Brownback (who is a member of fucking Opus Dei), who are even greater niche candidates than Paul.

Face it, chumps, Ron Paul's support is reaching the level of mythical.

this is exactly why Ron Paul is a fringe candidate even to most diehard GOPers. We may not like paying taxes, but we recognize their importance for basic government functions.

The interstate commerce clause does not apply to interstate highways. Therefore, they are unconstitutional.

calling an inanimate object "unconstitutional" is just plain stupid.

"While Interstate Highways usually receive substantial federal funding and comply with federal standards, they are owned, built, and operated by the states in which they are located. The only exception is the federally-owned Woodrow Wilson Bridge on the Capital Beltway (I-95/I-495)."
