the claim that liberals are CRITICAL of Palin for choosing to have her son....

If I hear one more allegation that liberals are criticizing Sarah Palin for choosing to give birth to a child with Down Syndrome, I think I might go on a violent rampage.

(Don't worry, it'll be an angry laundry-folding rampage...but it'll be fast and furious, for sure!)

I've heard this allegation 4 times now...yet I've heard absolutely NO one actually criticizing her choice. Is this infuriating anyone else? As a pro-choice mother, I find this absolutely revolting.

I heard this being thrown around on Hannity's radio show yesterday evening but really no where else. I have a simple rule what ever Sean Hannity says I believe the opposite.

The right wing conservative republican talking heads always do the same thing, the left wing liberal Democrat talking heads do it too just to be clear. Instead of talking about legitimate topics they always resort to Old Faithfull, the liberals and their attacks on people with morals and values. So they start talking about this made up attack on Palin and her decision to keep her child and by saying it enough times the retards who believe every word these jackasses say will start to believe it to be true.

That's a good rule to have.

I heard (from someone else) that Rush Limbaugh was going on about this a few days ago. Haven't looked it up, and I certainly didn't hear it first hand. I also just heard an evangelical talking head say it on MSNBC (which inspired me to rant here) and someone else mentioned it this morning, but I can't remember who. I was distracted at the time.

I also think Elisabeth Hasselbeck might have mentioned it...but who the fuck cares what she thinks? LOL :D

Ugh, I know. Believe me, I am not trying to imply that the left has clean hands on this issue.

    I'm really fed up.

Look at the sources, Limbaugh, Hannity and Hasselback. If you put the three of them together they haven't had an original thought of their own in over 8 years. Pretty much anything that comes out of their mouths if fucking garbage.

I like listening to people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Olberman. I try to run the whole gammit when it comes to these gas filled meat sacks. The pure unfiltered garbage that they all spew is actually entertaining. Then I remember that there are millions of people out there that believe these people and I loose all hope for this country.

I used to listen to O'Reilly on a nightly basis because I found some pleasure in getting angry at him, lol. I had to stop when I was diagnosed with pregnancy-induced hypertension, and never started back up again. It's not funny anymore because, as you say, there are too many people believing it.

MSNBC had a McCain supporting preacher on about a half hour ago ... he said something along the lines of he was happy that Palin kept her baby, despite all the liberal criticism ...

The anchor then asked, who was it that said she shouldn't keep the baby?

His answer was that, oh, he was certain there are were doctors out three that would say to get rid of the baby as it will be a financial and emotional burden.

He wanted to call Obama a baby killer .... which is what I heard some senetor form New Mexico call Obama yesterday

Just once I would love for the candidates to tell all their supporters, strategist and aides to shut the fuck up. Just once I would love both candidates to agree to keep the campaigns clean and only focus on the issues and to reinforce that pact with their posses. I love politics but I can't stand all the bullshit that tags along with it.

Yeah, he really did say that she did so against the advice of people around her. I don't remember his exact wording, but Nora O'Donnell does get credit for trying to make him say exactly WHO was pressuring/criticizing. It was infuriating.

I would too. There is so much at stake, yet it is treated (by almost all who are involved) like a petty game.

    agree.

the thing is, the american population is SO damn short sighted, almost none of this matters ... can anyone remember what was going on 3 months ago with this run to the white house .... hell, 3 weeks ago?

the debates will determine this election ... I bet 25% of the population won't make up their mind until the weekend before the election.

If election campaigns are going to run like some cheap Jerry Springer-esque reality show then they should at least make them entertaining. Have like an election Survivor. Drop all the candidates, Republican and Democrat alike, on some island and they have to duke it out to see who wins. No tribal meeting to vote people off, I'm talking last man standing death match. Each candidate picks someone they would like to run as their VP and simultaneously do the same with the VP candidates on a different island.

Yeah, that's actually what my husband and I were saying. Leave it up to a physical fight. The results would mean no more or less than an actual election. :D

Not even a physical fight. Just the person who was resourceful enough to still be standing after say 6 months on a deserted island living off the land and their wits. I figure anyone who can do that deserves to be president.

I love this post so much. :)

The Republicans are the ones bringing up these talking points in order to distract us from the fact that Palin is a typical conservative Republican with scandals looming in Alaska and not a friggin reformer.

If everyone thought for a minute, they'd realize the baby is a distraction from the issues. Every time the Republicans bring it up, it's to distract us. It is one less minute they are talking about the fact that she wanted to ban books from the library and was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it.

Is the media that stupid? Wait. Don't answer that. I already know the answer. :D

    you got that right!

thing is, while we can say 'no one cares' what certain people say.....there ARE people who DO, and take it to heart, verbatim. my husband was just telling me of a group of NYers who still believe obama is muslim and/or a muslim supporter, and therefore as devout jews they cannot vote for him. meanwhile here, all i read is how pro-israeli obama is....so wtf? :p it's so sad it's comical...so comical it's sad...but really, it's just sad. all these non-issues, miscommunications, incorrect assumptions...and there ARe people who will vote based on this biased BS. scary!

You just summed up my parents, except they aren't Jewish. The other day my mother told me straight out that she would vote for Obama, this is a woman who has stated she would die before voting for a Democrat, but she believes that he is a Muslim and we can't have the enemy in the White House. I shit you not. I still love her to death but I just got up from my seat and told her that I was running late and had to leave. I refuse to engage in political discussions with my family because it makes me want to stick sharp objects in my ears till they bleed profusely. It amazes me that people believe this shit.

    i hear that.
i have no idea where i got my politics from, b/c it sure as shit is not my family. although i will give my parents the credit of raising me to be informed, and to make my own decisions. so they have no one to blame but themselves. ;) seriously.....i can GET disagreeing on topics, seeing things differently...but actually believing some of the BS spewed, with NO back-up...completely floors me.

and this whole idea of liberals being critical over palin making the CHOICE to have her downs syndrome child....well hell...someone simply is NOt paying attnetion, just saying libs rather than people who are, errrrr.....PRO-CHOICE. :D i know, i know...secretely we are all baby-killers and baby-haters.....certainly don't support a woman's right to choose her own way.

btw - brainofjlo......i LOVe hearing of parents who are pro-choice....just warms my baby-killer heart. :p
