I was hoping she would, actually. I'm sure she'll be a fine SoS, but if the democrats intend to do anything with this mandate, they need strong leaders in the senate, and I fear they're stripping themselves of their best talent.
she was underwhelmed, if that's a word
  • My theory is that she may retire from politics after her 4-8 years as SOS. She had her chance to run as President and was denied that by ruthless politics. Had she declined this role, I would have presumed that she would have kept her role as NY Senator and run again for president in 2012, but, I think she made the right choice. I really like Hillary and she will be a fine SOS.

She may have been a good president but I think it's better that she's not. We have had someone in the White House with the last name of Bush or Clinton since like 1981. It's time to move on.

    I don't know.
I think this move to SOS is a play to beef up her resume for 2016. She's definately young enough to still be in the game for the Democratic Nomination in 2016...

It's an interesting choice regardless, and it will definatley be interesting to see how she works within the Obama Administration.

Just as long as Bubba, George Straponcockapuss and James "fisting glove" Carville keep schtum like three wise monkeys, Hillary will make a very good bad cop. I'm actually not too bothered about her being SoS. It was the thought of her as president that gave me the heebie-jeebies.

Okay....her party voted her down....and you as an agent of "change" want to keep close to the power?
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.
  • Initially, I was very uncomfortable with it-until the wife pointed out that given the history of those who have politically crossed the Clintons..well she is certainly much more than assertive.
I do not think we are going to hell, but given the last two administrations( 16 years worth)-I have my hand basket ready for the trip.

I really wanted Hillary Clinton to go away. And now I have zero faith in Barack Obama.

Just in case people needed a reminder of what kind of person she is:

The best part of that vid is at 29 seconds...Bill Clinton on the large screen beaming like he's on pills, and clapping to the words "If I could turn back time....If I could find a way"

    classic...

I have nothing but the greatest respect for Hillary Clinton. Bitches get things done. :) Indeed, they do. She's my kind of bitch. She wears the pantsuits well. She was my first pick for president, but then she and Barack are just two flavors of premium ice cream...really, there's not much different about them except the branding. Bottom line, this is really good news for me. I'm glad to see Barack continuing to act like the really smart man he is and picking her for his most high-powered cabinet position. She'll be kickass. As always.
  • When first reading the title I took it for Hillary has accepted the Same Old Shit position :D

No, that position is still reserved for the American public.

Pithy comment aside, I don't know how I feel about this. Time will tell, I suppose. My entire life has seen either a Bush or Clinton in the White House--this problem, or at least potential problem, has been pointed out.

i'm still shocked that you had any faith in him to begin with....was it the 'yes we can!' line that go you?

haha, nah, trust me, I always thought that line was pure velveeta cheese.

and I knew he had the support of the bigwigs going in, but I though maybe he was a little bit of a rebel nonetheless. it was only a few weeks before the election that I decided to vote for Obama/Biden and that was more of a stand against McCain/Palin and the idiocy they stood for. plus, I wasn't inspired to vote for Nader, McKinney, Barr (helllll no) or Baldwin (lol).

but I did think about writing in Naked Dancing Llama for Prez and Flying Spaghetti Monster for VP, and now I wish I had.

  • As the Daily Show astutely pointed out (as always) where were the main disagreements between the Obama and Clinton campaigns? Foreign policy. So yeah, this makes perfect sense. I hope the American people are ready to switch from voting for change to demanding it.

  • Defending Hillary is like defending Bush!

As far as being the same with different branding, you can not be serious.
First, I know of no bodies piling up around Obama, also Obama is a comparative unknown on most policy-Hillary is known. I am suprised that he appointed her, but think it is another move of employing those who are "enemies". Now he needs to walk across the bridge and employ someone from the other side of the river ( Republican) to show me he really means reaching out.

Also, Obama seems the definitive grace under fire, while Hillary appears frequently agitated. It was such aload of crap to hear that sexism decided her primary defeat. There is no problem with a Woman president, just not Hillary or God forbid Palin. BTW Obama has been a much more unifying figure and Hillary is almost as polarizing as Bush. They are both Democrats and that's about it.
    Cheers
  • So instead of being the first woman president, Hilary ends up... a secretary... ;)

I don't think so... won't she be nearly 70 years old... I think it would be tough overcome the age and gender...
I guess I hope someone with fresh ideas come to the political arena before then...

Why thank you! I'm sure you understand the meaning behind it sister. ;)

To follow up, someone posted that they think Hillary will run again in 2016... hell no. Her accepting the SOS position in Obambam's administration will signal her final political role before she retires. If people couldn't vote for a woman this time, how in the hell will they vote for one damn near 70, eight years from now?
