I don't think so. Why don't you discuss Iraq policy without blaming independent will?

Choice is at the foundation of the conflict.

Here you go picking at words again when you know what I mean.

I'm not going to recite the dictionary to you every time I make a statement. Use your brain.

What you mean is self-esteem without achievement. What you mean is pride without self-esteem. What you mean is contradictory. The very fact that you would even say "my accomplishment" demonstrates that you don't believe your own philosophy. You could never take credit for something as "mine", and furthermore you've destroyed even the meaning of "accomplishment" since that implies goals, values, virtues and choice.

God, this is priceless. How would I "use my brain", Ahnimus? Don't you have to probe me or something for that?

That's a complete distortion of the theory. Free-choice is not the same as freedom of choice or freedom to choose. Two completely different concepts. I am an agent, acting within my environment. My rational deliberation system based on the experience and knowledge I've obtained allows for accomplishment. You are attributing free-will to the word "I" which implies nothing of the sort. Not believe in choice free from determinents does not make "I" non-existent. I mean do you seriously believe that garbage?

How do "free-choice", "freedom of choice" and "freedom to choose" differ?
You are attributing free-will to the word "I" which implies nothing of the sort.

No, I'm attributing free-will to consciousness which in turn gives meaning to the word "I".
Not believe in choice free from determinents does not make "I" non-existent. I mean do you seriously believe that garbage?

I don't seriously believe that garbage. You know that because I've told you a many times that choice does not exist free from determinents.

    How about this?

Instead of trying to disprove my theory of determinism. Prove free-will.

Free-choice is choice that is free from determinents. "Freedom to choose" is what you get from living in a free-society. "Freedom to choose" is the leniency of law that allows you to make choices with your rational deliberation system.
No, I'm attributing free-will to consciousness which in turn gives meaning to the word "I".

Consciousness does not provide free-will. Prove it, prove that consciousness has anything to do with decision making. I've already cited several studies that prove that choices are determined prior to conscious awareness. It's proven fact, jack. Look it up.
I don't seriously believe that garbage. You know that because I've told you a many times that choice does not exist free from determinents.

Then what are you even going on about?

Why the hell are these people here?

Why are you here if you just want to spit out your opinion? Not read facts, not consider anything, just use circular reasoning to explain that which you cannot explain. Ask a question like "Why do people do this?" and then expect no answer, or ignore the answer because you dislike it. What is even the point? Ventilation of frustration? There are better ways of handling frustration than directing it at someone else when you fully understand the cause of the frustration.

i find this post unbearably ironic. read your words...again dear ahnimus. it is best when one can recognize themself. :p why are YOU here? b/c being open-minded to others' opinions here does not seem tops on your list. :) just an observation.

I am open to other ideas, as long as they are grounded in fact and not just using circular reasoning.

No one here has given a basis or reasoning for free-will. They just assert that my theory must be wrong because they can't understand it, or because they assume I"m trying to absolve myself of some wrong doing. It's completely absurd. Prove free-will exists. No one can.

how about this...who cares? it does NOT need to dominate every discussion. i have no desire to debate the topic...and since it seems the only topic you are interested in...guess we won't have many convos/debates. the few threads/posts i do read of yours, it is continually filled with 'i'm right and you're wrong' with mind-numblingly long wikipedia copy/paste jobs.....blah, blah. that is not what i come here for. so yea...i shall not respond to this thread anymore, i just found your post unbelievably ironic, and yes, i agree with ms. hip...it doesn't need to be in every thread discussion. agre, disagree....c'est la vie. :)

besides...life is gloriously filled with lots and lots of grey.....i love the grey areas of life.
and ya never did answer the question...why are you here? hahaha. however, i never expected ya to...ya rarely do, you just post your ideas/thoughts...tell others they are wrong.....
