Its not "how much Muslim related violence" has occured yet here in the states- its the general mindset that violence is the answer that is alarming and doesnt bode well for the future of Muslim-American relations.0 -

Not once in this discussion does this clown ever criticize or denounce the violent and absurd reaction to the Pope's comments. Not once is he willing to even consider the possibility that Muslims have grossly misinterpreted and over-reacted. Not once. He's not even willing to accept, invite or entertain the notion.

...and remember......I'm a guy who has zero respect for the Pope.
We act the same way towards them.0 -

and do you think that violence over diplomacy isn't our policy, as well?If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

I dont think- I KNOW that with us it all depends on whether we have a Republican or a Democrat in the WhiteHouse, Americans tend to be wishy -washy in their mind set and change it often depending on what is going on and who is our President. We definately are not raised with an extremist view on killing and we definately have always struck back in defense but only when we were attacked first. Clinton was "Diplomatic" as hell for 8 years while everything was brewing and being arranged for 9-11, he chose diplomacy and over action and look where that got us.0 -

Thanks sweety. I tend to always look for the bottomline. I believe thats usually where the answer is closest to.0 -

Why dude (edit: dudette)..the best place to compare it is in the states where the socioeconomical factors are essentially the same. Here in the states where we are able to police most of it you still see extremist violence. People are people and will react essentially the same when put in the same enviroments. To blame a particular religion is pure BS, religion is just the tool used to control the people..whether over there to recruit suicide bombers or here by using "moral values" and homosexuality to get the evangilicals to show up at the polls. The more you generalize the more you prove my point.

Fuck them! They can kiss my ass!
Their ignorance is only outweighted by their coniving, hateful manipulation.
I'm pretty sure you have the ability to read my mindI'll keep taking punches

Well, the greatest example is our bombing of Iraq.. and our leaderships condescending and false explanations and failure to acknowledge or appologize for all the harm it has done - both to the innocent people and in the rhetoric our leadership spews about terrorism and insurgency and how they should be happy and greatful for repeated bombing campagnes.

Iraq is not a religious war. Bad example.0 -

Situation: An offensive cartoon is published in a newspaper
Western reaction: Ahh sort of funny, sort of inappropriate- life goes on.
Muslim reaction: FUCK YOU. DIE. LET'S RIOT. KILL MY NEIGHBOR. EVIL WEST.The less you know, the more you believe.0 -
eden wrote:Its interesting when you research Muslim roots that they are the descendants of Ishmael (Abrahams illigitemate son by his wife Sarah's concubine) anyway, Ishmael left Abrahams family in disgrace and then went on to become the Patriarch of such violent clans as the Assyrians - who were referred to as "Hunters of Men" and would mount the heads of the men they killed on their spears as trophies.
This is true. At least according to the books, it's true.eden wrote:I believe that certain traits run in certain races, and the Muslim people have been taught to use violence from the beginning.
I also agree with this. But realistically speaking, it is a symptom of the human race as a species.eden wrote:their are also many gentle, beautiful, peace loving Muslims who stick more closely to the teachings of Muhamed.
Absolutely. I personally have known and currently know some. My kids play with their kids, and we do spend time together.
Unfortunately, there too many who think and act to illustrate the worst of our species.0 -

It is sad that you have to make a statement as basic as this to prove a point. It is even more sad that people will read this and still call Islam a peaceful religion.0 -

Go to a small town in rural USA draw an offensive cartoon of Jesus, then go stay in a motel in the same town....see if you get out unscathed.0 -

What a statement from a peaceful, loving christian.0 -

What is that supposed to mean? I'm not allowed to say that the Islamic religion is a violent religion? That makes me a bad person?
You are grasping at straws here. I'd give up your argument.0 -

And if upon the small, small chance anything happened, 99.9% of the Christian community would come out against it. You wouldn't get the silence you get now from the Muslim community.0
