did you educate them how to make a difference?

I was low-impact. I stayed in bed all day with the covers over my head being as depressed as possible.

I had a nice sadwich/wrap filled with hallal meat from the muslim/Indian restaurant down the street from work. Trying to make them feel welcome in Canada. ;) Walked to it so I could enjoy the cool yet sunny day here. Made sure I didn't take the offered plastic bag to put the already wrapped sandwich in. Made sure the wrapper from the sandwich made it into the garbage bin at work.

Tonight since I don't have work tomorrow and will probably be sucking back some cocktails at home by myself. I will not flush the toilette after every pee I have. Then I will have the tough decision of making a wood fire to keep warm or just keep on using the furnace. I have yet to work out which is better for the future of man kind. Dammit Jim! I am a human being.

    that made me laugh. :)

i really need to do more. we do recycle, religiously, and as much as possbile...but could always do more to reduce what we even bring into our home. we have upgraded our furnance, water heat and a/c to as effient as we could afford to buy...inground sprinklers so as to waste as little possible water while caring for our plants.....low-flow toilet and showerhead...and basically try to keep the temp on the cool side in winter, warm side in summer to cut down energy usage....along with turning off lights, etc. i can't take public transport nor carpool to work, which is a shame....but i DO live extremely close to work, and just about most places we frequent, in a 5-7 mile radius...quite centrally located...so definitely helps in that sense.

but yes, can still do way more.

today i recycled, conserved energy and water in the house, and tonight im carpooling to an event. i haven't done anything amazing today, but if we all conserved a little and tried to reach out, just imagine the effect!

    what have you done today?

You self-righteous hippies make me laugh. Do you really think that a selfish person who doesn't bother to recycle is going to start recycling because people tell him to? Of course not. Thus, the only purpose of this thread is to revel in your own greatness. Yawn.

EDIT: Please, if you know what's good for you, don't say I'm not doing my part. Because somebody will inevitably accuse me of that, and they will be embarrased by the results.

It's good to know you think recycling is akin to greatness.

exactly. every little bit is a step in the right direction. i personally didn't get the feeling that one was 'bragging' here, more like, simply pay attention to the small details of daily living. it's so true, small changes can have big impact. and sure, we all can do more.

Not at all. I looked into the thread to see what others were doing and see if anyone had some new ideas. Why don't you share some of your good ideas? Maybe they are things others of us could start doing?

i always wonder if the water that is wasted cleaning up the recyclables is kind of cancelling out the good deed

You should kill people, thus eliminating the waste they generate. Then fertilize the bodies. There ya go.

Everything I do changes the world. If you don't think so. You probably don't understand the world.

The OIL that is burned to drive the machinery required to recycle cancels out the bennefits of recycling.

Decomposing biological tissue releases greenhouse gases as well.

i was tired of the debate over whether it's cooling or warming and whether it's real or blah blah blah so hopeless,... people neglect to talk about what we do know the answer to and what we can change a lot of the time. it was an attempt to get people to think. it was also an attempt to learn. i can see how you may have misconstrued my thread, but it definitely wasn't to the level you make it. sorry for the poor wording buddy. i am great at a lot of things, but im fairly uninformed when it comes to conservation (other than conventional things).

and isn't your edit in fact an attempt at being self-righteous? why don't you share some of the results,...
