today i recycled, conserved energy and water in the house, and tonight im carpooling to an event. i haven't done anything amazing today, but if we all conserved a little and tried to reach out, just imagine the effect!

I drove to work to day in the hopes I can make this coming weekend a little warmer.

I spent needless time on a message board using coal powered electricity in the hopes of having a nice warm spring.

I'm looking at buying SUV in the hopes that my property will become water front property by the time I retire.

you can conserve at home. you can plant trees on your day off. you can spread knowledge.

i think planting trees is so underrated:

    less trees=more CO2 and less O2 output,...

more trees=more CO2 absorption and transferred into O2 release,...

isn't that one of the mainstream concerns?

why hasn't every single person on earth planted at least twice the amount of trees they consume indirectly by paper, home building, etc.?????

well, the thread title does say change and doesn't necessarily pick a side,...

this message board is a form of communication. surely the benefits would outweigh the bad if we used the board to broaden the spectrum and not bitch and complain,...

assuming context is as it relates to climate change and not just the world in general ...

    today ...

i took public transit to work (like every other day i don't bike) ... i am writing a climate change policy for the company i work for ... my dinner tonite will consist of approximately 35% locally grown (200 km) from here ... i need a pair of shoes and am considering the ecolutions or blackspots right now ... will see if there are any others ... i freecycled some pictures frames that will be picked up tonite ... and i posted a message on this board in the hopes i could get one person to do one small thing to make a difference ...

i think doing your best to conserve is looking on the bright side, plus your water front property is likely to get destroyed by a hurricane and your insurance would be really high,...

  • One of my personal objectives this year (which is in a document that gets used as a reference for our yearly bonus next year) is to take on at least (key word least) five high priority environmental related projects where the sole justification is environment enhancement....

I'll gladly accept having to board up my place for ten days a year in order to be waterfront. Besides there's not much chance of a hurricane of tornado where I live. In fact climate change has just been making the summers better and more snow on the hills in the winter. From a very personal and selfish point of view climate change is a great thing where I live. Climate change is not universally bad. Some places will change for the better.

the west coast has been ravaged with power outages and such all year ... yes, whistler had early snow and lots but guess what - co-worker went out last week and didn't wanna ski cuz it was +8 deg. C and raining in whistler ... that can't be good ...

i can guarantee u that if u asked anyone at intrawest whether they appreciate climate change - they will all say a resounding NO ... they'd much rather have predictable seasonable norms then what they got this year ...

well, i just want you to know that i think as long as you do your best to conserve and be responsible with the environment, i hope your property never gets destroyed,...

and it also isn't just selfish, b/c climate change is going to get real bad in some places,...

Well I think it's selfish of others to want to deny me my waterfornt property and warmer summers.

Look, will it make it better if I buy them some flippers, swimming lessons and a copy of Kevin Costner's Water World?

im not trying to deny you anything,... im asking you to post about what you did today to change the world. i thought i implied what people did to conserve and make a positive difference in the perception that conserving and NOT DRIVING SUV's was good,...

the whole water world thing is just you being ridiculous. im not going to reply anymore.

I had a nice sadwich/wrap filled with hallal meat from the muslim/Indian restaurant down the street from work. Trying to make them feel welcome in Canada. ;) Walked to it so I could enjoy the cool yet sunny day here. Made sure I didn't take the offered plastic bag to put the already wrapped sandwich in. Made sure the wrapper from the sandwich made it into the garbage bin at work.

Tonight since I don't have work tomorrow and will probably be sucking back some cocktails at home by myself. I will not flush the toilette after every pee I have. Then I will have the tough decision of making a wood fire to keep warm or just keep on using the furnace. I have yet to work out which is better for the future of man kind. Dammit Jim! I am a human being.
You've changed your place in this world!

No (unless I'm ocd too- and i likely am!) - I do it also. My shower head has this little button on it that you press, for that purpose.

What else? We recycle all paper, plastic and metal. We use mattress warmers so we can turn the heat down at night.

Until yesterday, I used to recycle, save energy, avoid to use car, didn't smoke too much..... but today in Italy our stupid government collapsed, and those who still supported it didn't understand why, so I felt so sick and decided that today I won't give a damn about all those good things that our greens tell us to do while they still support a warmonger silly pseudo-leftist government, so today I consumed a lot of silly stuff, wasted energy and now I am about to get out and take the car, and I smoked way too much.

ahah! my part? I always do my part. Today I just decided that my part for one day is to protest against my silly part, and after years of this silly part I just want to feel free to do what the 99% of the people of the planet do, which is not to give a shit. Tomorrow is another day.
