Facing a draft, Nugent bravely wet his pants

Rocker is all talk as he calls Obama, Hillary vile names

August 27, 2007
BY RICHARD ROEPER Sun-Times Columnist
So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of
" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless bitch" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless whore."

That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right?

Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative!

Ah, but that was a long time ago. Nugent isn't just a washed-up rocker -- he's a right-wing madman who's not afraid to call out some of the leading Democrats in language so vile it makes the Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' comments about President Bush sound like a love poem.

You'd think even someone such as Sean Hannity would dismiss Nugent as a macho clown, desperate for attention.

Yeah, right.

In a discussion on his show last week, Hannity refused to condemn Nugent's remarks, saying, "I like Ted Nugent . . . he's a friend of mine," and even laughing loudly as Alan Colmes read the transcript of some of Nugent's remarks.

Funny. I don't remember Hannity being so cavalier about the Dixie Chicks went they criticized Bush.

Not that he's operating under a double standard or anything.

whats even funnier is that he didn't even say these things to obama and hillary, he just said that he said "suck on this", ect. to them.

which would make him even more of a coward, and of course a liar.

Nugent was on Hannity and Colmes whining about a blogger threatening his life in much the same language, without fisting the machine guns.

He's a hypocrit, just like Hannity. Bunch of douches.

It's the fact that he acts as though he supports war, but didn't go when he had the chance that gets me.

Ali didn't support the war so it was a protest. What was Ted's?

Your friend is free to say anything he wants. your friend has all the first amendment rights that everyone else has.

I dont think he was censored, nor was he asked to apologize.

And as I am an american, I am free to think your friend is a complete wackjob. Tell your friend hi, and ask him to put his money where his mouth is and enlist.

The difference Ali, Clinton, and Kerry didn't go on stage brandishing a machine gun calling people pussies. Ali didn't support any war so he protested. Clinton is in the same boat as Bush, Cheney, Teddy Boy Nugent, in that they all avoided the Nam war. So did a lot of people. It was a crap war. At least Kerry served and there is no proof he shot himself on purpose to get out of the war.

Its hilarious that Republicans brought up Kerry's war record in Nam and how he was a fraud. What did Bush do during the same time?

I'll tell you what he did.

how are you different? you just made a slanderous comment you cannot prove. if you want to set standards for people; then everyone should be held to those same standards; including you.
the draft ended 4 days before i had to report. i was prepared to pull strings to get out of it if the draft hadn't ended. vietnam was lost on the mainland first. if the public isn't supportive; troops don't get the tools or manpower they need so all we do is send fresh bodies for the enemy to shoot.

i never supported the vietnam war and i wouldn't have gone either. our reasons for being in vietnam are different from our reasons for being in iraq. if you say we're in iraq because of oil; then it's because you haven't learned to live without oil. you make oil valuable by buying its products. your DEMAND for oil has made that war necessary.

Is anyone here from the government? Has anyone here tried to silence your - um - friend? No? Didn't think so.

"Teddy" can say whatever dumbassed, ignorant thing he wants - and anyone else who wants to call him out for the hypocrite that he is has every right to do so under that same 1st amendment.

And I'm not calling him a hypocrite for avoiding the draft (though it kind of sounds like he is). I'm calling him a hypocrite for going on Hannity's show and crying like the little wuss he is over someone saying the same shit about him.

    Oh, and his music sucks.

are you saying that if someone supports war; then they must support EVERY war no matter what the reason for going to war? this is what i'm not understanding about this thread. does it also mean that a person cannot change their views from what they believed when they were 18 years old? i would've pulled strings to get out of the draft (it ended days before i had to report) yet i would go to iraq if i wasn't 51. i have a son in iraq and several nephews there too.

there's several reasons. prior to the election bush made it clear that we were going into iraq if saddam didn't allow inspections. we elected him knowing he would deal with saddam. i don't know why it's such a surprise to everyone except that people only hear what they want to hear.
the vietnam war was meant to fight communism; and fueled by paranoia. iraq was to unseat a dictator that didn't play by the rules the rest of the world had to follow; and who also killed thousands of innocent people (genocide).
if we're there for oil; the iraqi people own that oil and will continue to own that oil until they sell it. if saddam was still in power; he'd own the oil until he sold it. once it hits the market it doesn't matter who buys it. war or not; saddam or not; that oil was and is going to hit the world market.

No, not really. Clinton wasn't enlisted in the armed services and was being drafted in. Bush was enlisted and used his pull so he could get out of doing his JOB.
