    Yes...when the money is wrestled from the hands of the citizens and there is a loss before it comes back in services, I see the collection as no different than the mafia.

    The difference is... WE elect the people in charge, the Mafia doesn't hold elections.
    So... we are to blame by voting someone in... and not checking to see if they are doing us a service or not.

    There shouldn't be a loss with that I agree.

    Most people I know don't mind paying taxes. Of course it sucks but they all agree it's better than a non welfare state.

    That reminds me, I have to buy the Sopranos on dvd.

    1. Do you and most people you know like (or not mind) paying taxes in order to help provide for each other and those less fortunate than you?

    I don't know the motives of the people I mentioned but I don't mind that I will have to pay for those less fortunate.

    I don't have to, I'm just glad I happen to live in one. I'm not planning on staying here forever. I might even move to the US for a year or maybe two.

    And I imagine it's harder to do this in a non-welfare state.

    Yes, he certainly will. Unfortunately, Uncle Sam actually shakes me down for money 4 times a year. So I guess I'm used to it.
