Ummmmm..... how exactly is the justice system dominated by liberals when we had a republican president (who appoints federal judges) for 18 of the last 26 years?
I guess you think that it makes your point better if you throw in "liberal" in every post.
The republican presidents of the last 26 years haven't appointed all of the federal judges serving today, not even close. Most federal judges serving today were appointed by presidents before Reagan. And yes, most of them are liberals.
ha ha ha....I bet you can't define "liberal", yet you use it as if you do...who's making broad assumptions and passing them off as facts....? well, that would be you....
as for the border patrol agents...since when did two wrongs make a right...? yes, the "scumbag drug smuggler" (bringing in crappy brickweed) was wrong, but it does make it ok to shoot the guy in the back and then attempt to cover it up....this is a "nation of laws" right...?
I define liberal as sending border patrol agents to jail for doing their job. Given your brief summary in your lame post, it doesn't even seem like you fully read any of the links. You like so many others around just want to make assumptions and create your own truths and pass them off as facts.
The border agents, muy bien, stopped the illegal and one border agent tripped and fell.
The border agents did not do a full pat down on the guy so there was no chance they could be *sure* he didn't have gun. Ok holmes?
As the illegal ran away they shot him. Had they actually killed him they could have proved reasonable cause that he did have a gun(ish) thing. The LAPD are experts at this assesment (and sometimes it's valid).
They missed and the guy got away. muy bien?
The border agents then proceeded to ***obstruct justice*** by conducting in evidence tampering in picking up all their shell casings (they know they FUCKED UP).
Here is where the whole thing is sour:
The agents are wrong because: Had they not tampered with edence who would have beleived an illegal Mexican over a US authority in this event? Especially since both agents are hispanic of hispanic heratige.
The government is wrong because: The enemey of your enemy is not your friend; that is to say don't get in bed with a Mexican drug trafficer to nail these two border agent's nuts to their forheads. The fact that the agents collectd the shell casings was evidence enough that they obstructed justice.
It's law enforcement folks in our country, being "right enough" does not count. Either your for the 5th, 6th and 14th amendment or you're not.
Confucious Says: He who buries a man's wife alive, should not expect to sit at that man's dinner table without the subject coming up.

Well I noticed that the agent who did the shooting is obese. I think when he wasn't able to catch up with the trafficker, he took it personally because of his weight. He was afraid that the guys back at the station would never let him live down being outrun. So, he did what he had to do to keep from looking like the typical donut-eating law enforcement member.
I love Riot Act too. Who doesn't? It's one of their better albums IMO.
How can you not have a good album, you get divorced, 9 people die in front of you, and 9/11 turns the world upside down.
What kind of a corporate whore are you. I only ask because I was a corporate whore myself. I was an officer of the company actually, gave it up recently actually.

looks like I was right, you can't define the term, thanks for clearing that up...as for reading the links, I did...I also read about this story on Fox News, too...yup, that's right...
"These agents shot someone who they knew to be unarmed and running away," Sutton said. "They destroyed evidence, covered up a crime scene and then filed false reports about what happened. It is shocking that there are people who believe it is OK for agents to shoot an unarmed suspect who is running away."
Sutton said that during the two-and-a-half-week trial, evidence showed that around 1 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2005, Davila initially ran from the agents, but tried to surrender with his empty hands raised after Compean pointed a shotgun at him. When Compean tried to push Davila to the ground with his gun, the agent tripped and fell. Davila then ran toward the Rio Grande River and Mexico. Compean chased Davila, firing at him with his pistol 14 times, pausing once to reload, Sutton said. Ramos shot once and struck Davila in the buttocks.
Neither agent made any further effort to apprehend him, Sutton said, and they threw away the fired shell casings and filed a false report omitting the confrontation.
"If Compean and Ramos truly believed Aldrete [Davila] was a threat, why did they abandon him after shooting him?" Sutton asked. "And if they truly believed the shooting was justified, why did they not report it, leave the scene undisturbed, and let the investigation absolve them? The answer to these questions are simple. The agents knew that Aldrete did not pose a threat as he fled, they knew the shooting was unjustified and unlawful, and they knew an investigation would incriminate them. So they chose to cover up their crimes."
I don't have any problem with them shooting a criminal who is resisting and fleeing. I don't care if some illegal gets a slug in his ass as a consequence of his own actions.
I loooove violence too, even more when it's real!
If you are to uphold the law and tamper with evidence and lie about what you did.. You don't deserve the badge and an example needs to be made, lock 'm up!

The smuggler knew what he was doing and got his ass shot. Should be in jail in my opinion. Buy not shot dead. Get your country to stop smoking the shit and more likely people will stop trying to get it accross. As long as you have people smoking, snorting, injecting themselves with shit there will be people getting it to them. Sad but true. You really think someone is going to traffic that shit all the way up to the border and say "ahh fuck a wall guess I will go back"??????? Fuck no. Smuggler will get around that shit. Tunnels, corrupt INS etc , etc ,etc. You demand they supply . Bitch ain't it!
The agents tried to cover it up and got caught so they certainly minimum deserved to be fired. Sentence is harsh but correct me if I am wrong but they can appeal and probably get it reduced. Jury probably wanted to make an example out of them and went hard.

I took the liberty of defining liberal by putting it in context with the story rather than giving a text book answer. It doesn't surprise me that you missed it. It also doesn't surprise me that the the prosecutors comments are what stands out to you the most. He too went ahead and made some assumptions about the border patrol officers such as abandoning the drug smuggler after shooting him. How can you abandon someone who is running away from you? The assumption that the agents knew that the drug smuggler did not pose a threat. Did they just start firing at the drug smuggler for the hell of it? Making assumptions and trying to pass them off as facts about this case is what you did in your first post. Then you back that up by quoting the prosecutor who did the same damn thing. Its obvious that you are defending this poor drug smugglers "rights". Could that be veiwed as liberalism?

um...just a quick question, were you there...? I'll admit that I wasn't, but were you..? I'll also admit, I'm leaning toward believing the prosecutor, who really doesn't have much to gain by falsely prosecuting these agents....
I have to say, if you weren't there, I guess you too are assuming and passing fact, are you not....? listen, if these guys did nothing wrong, I'd support them, however a court of law found different....sorry, but that's all I have to go on...
as for defending "rights"...well, everyone has "rights", even poor mexican drug smugglers...perhaps border patrol agents should shoot first and ask questions later...maybe all law enforcement should do that...is that the America you want...?

Of course I wasn't there. But after reading the two links provided, the fox news report, and listening to various news commentators I can come to the conclusion that this is a miscarriage of justice. Also, I believe the prosecutor has a lot to gain by prosecuting this case. Much like the prosecutor in the Duke rape case, this case has given this prosecutor tons of national attention in the press which will only further his career. To sentence these two agents to 11 and 12 years in jail for shooting and wounding a drug smuggler who was attemping to cross the border illegally is outrageous. Did these two agents handle the aftermath of their actions as they should of? No. That should of been handled within the border patrol agency. Not by some outsiders with an agenda.
i know i'm late, but better late than to never have a point. the point i'm making is, you can't hate an entire nation. i love the mexican people. my father was born in mexico. so it offends me greatly. it's almost as if you hate them when you say "fuck mexico". in that case than fuck you. that's not cool.

Most of the liberals on this site will agree that those two agents should be in jail for violating that poor drug smuggler"s civil rights.
if the smuggler was american; he had no right to be shot. certain rules of engagement must be followed. it's what keeps cops from shooting at people on the street.
if the smuggler was mexican; he was an invader and became a criminal when he crossed the border. the shooting should be justified.
civil rights are for citizens and those here legally.

Then I'm sure you don't have a problem with the agents being punished?
1. The suspect at one point tried to give himself up by stopping and putting his hands in the air, but decided to keep running after Compean attempted to hit him with the butt of his shotgun and missed.
2. Then the agents fired 15 rounds at him as he fled.
3. The agents were unaware that he was smuggling drugs as they did not look inside the van before opening fire.
4. Ramos has been arrested at least twice in the past for domestic violence and was formally disciplined for conduct unbecoming of an officer.
Shocking Admission Of Lying By Government In Ramos/Compean Case
Under questioning by Rep. John Culberson, a Department of Homeland Security representative admitted that his department did NOT have evidence to back up a number of claims made to members of Congress last fall to bolster its case against imprisoned agents Ramos and Compean, including: that the agents “wanted to shoot a Mexican,” confessed to shooting an unarmed suspect, were belligerent to investigators, lied and submitted false reports, and stated during the investigation that the illegal alien did not pose a threat .
According to Culberson, "(DHS Inspector General) Richard Skinner admitted yesterday under oath that his top deputies gave members of Congress false information painting Border Patrol agents as rogue cops who were not in fear for their lives and who were 'out to shoot Mexicans."
Government lied to Congress to bolster its case
Basically, the government has admitted that its officials lied to Congress in an effort to bolster its case in the public against agents Ramos and Compean. These charges have caused many to question the validity of the agents' claims that they are innocent and acted in response to an imminent threat from an illegal alien drug runner.
The truth is, Johnny Sutton and our govenrnment turned what is at most a procedural violation (punishable by at the most a few days unpaid leave) and made it into a witchhunt against our agents.
As Rep. Dana Rohrabacher said in a speech from the floor of the House on 2/7/07, "The initial decision to prosecue the two border patrol agents instead of the drug smugglers was indefensible, period. Sutton's only defense... has been to lie and to demonize the two border patrol agents.".....
So I'll just lie down and wait for the dream Where I'm not ugly and you're lookin' at me
