Border Patrol Agents going to Jail !!!

This outrageous. Briefly, 2 border patrol agents are going to jail today for shooting at an illegal drug smuggler in Texas. They did not kill him, they wounded him. Now you go to jail for doing the job you were asked to do???

    Most of the liberals on this site will agree that those two agents should be in jail for violating that poor drug smuggler"s civil rights.

    This transcends liberal vs. conservative. This is about maintaining sanity as a nation. Those two border patrol agents are real Americans. They're protecting our borders. So, they messed up and shot the guy and maybe they didn't dot an "i" when they filed it. Oops.

    Fuck that piece of shit drug smuggler. He got immunity to return to the U.S. and testify against our guys and now he's suing the U.S. government for violating his civil rights.

    The border patrol should start killing the drug traffickers instead now. Maybe then they'll learn that the U.S. isn't playing around with their shit.
    All I know is that to see, and not to speak, would be the great betrayal.

    You can't have sanity in a nation when a justice system dominated by liberals puts its own border patrol agents in jail for what amounts to protecting the border.

    first. that guy they shot was bringing across weed that 98 percent of us smoke, so enough with the piece of shit drug dealer bullshit. also, after they shot this person, they went around collecting all the shell casings to cover it up, and they all lied about what happened in their report. they were also convicted for this crime by a jury in the united states of america. now i know all you republicans like the fact that the big macho border patrol agents are hunting mexicans, but it is still illegal to shoot people who are running away from you. even if their skin is brown. it is wrong no matter what bill o'riley and lou dobbs tell you.

    I knew a liberal would make their presence known in this thread. They didn't go to jail because they picked up some shell casings and lied in a report. They went to jail because they chased a fleeing drug smuggler. Did you even bother to read the link provided? Or are you just making broad assumptions and trying to pass them off as facts?

    The guy was a piece of shit no matter what the drug was he smuggled across the boarder. The fact that our gov't gave this shitbag asylum to come over and testify or even give a statement is crazy. They should have dropped him off on the Mexican side and let them deal with their own garbage. However, it wasn't right for the boarder patrol agents to lie and tamper with the crime scene. They will probably serve a year or two and have their sentences pardoned. At least that's what should happen.

    It seems kind of silly to have a law that states it is illegal to chase those who are fleeing but they knew the law and they broke it and did try to cover it up. The smuggler should be serving major jailtime, he tried to import a massive quantity of an illegal substance. Its not as if he was bringing a small amount in for his own use.

    I don't really see the difference between a small amount for personal use and 50 tons of the stuff. This guy wouldn't be bringing a truckload of marijuana to the states were it not for the all of the small amounts that people are sure to be purchasing. Placing emphasis on the trafficker distorts the real root cause of the problem, which is demand.

    There is demand obviously but that doesn't mean you don't police those who are seeking to make a financial killing from that demand. There is a massive demand for a whole series of illegal substances, but the traffickers must still be punished. If you are going to make a drug illegal then you must police the traffickers with the full force of the law. I could really care less if someone smokes pot regulary, that is just my personal opinion. But I think the governments of all countries have a responsblity to police men such as this with the full force of the law.

    In this case, I guess the full force of the law was a gunshot to the buttocks.

    Pardon the pun, but I'm sort of on the fence over whether or not the gunshot should warrant jail time. These border patrol agents are under a lot of pressure to protect our borders. I've lived near the border and I can say that there's crazy stuff happening there.

    But, I wouldn't go so far as to refer to these smugglers as being less than human. The only difference between a drug smuggler and a beer truck driver is that one is committing an illegal activity. Beer just happens to be legal. It's still a drug. It still ruins peoples' lives.

    So, I'm not saying that it should be legal to traffick drugs because the dopers are the real problem. I'm saying that it's somewhat naive to label traffickers are pieces of shit when all they're really doing is bringing something that people want.

    The kingpins, on the other hand, are an exception. I'm just talking about the poor guy who is driving the truck.

    Its hard to conclude if shooting was the right response, yet I dont see how this would put them behind bars. I don't believe if they acted by the rules they'd get prison time, I also don't see how this blames liberals, since these laws are not a few weeks old.

    I think the punishment they got was a bit harsh, indeed. But they should be punished. If the people who are supposed to uphold the law, break it and get pardoned for it, I think their is something wrong.

    as for the border patrol agents...since when did two wrongs make a right...? yes, the "scumbag drug smuggler" (bringing in crappy brickweed) was wrong, but it does make it ok to shoot the guy in the back and then attempt to cover it up....this is a "nation of laws" right...?

    I agree that they should have received punishment for lying about what they did, and tampering with evidence.

    I don't have any problem with them shooting a criminal who is resisting and fleeing. I don't care if some illegal gets a slug in his ass as a consequence of his own actions. But even more troubling than these agents lying is that respresentatives of my government went to Mexico, found the scumbag, and offered him imunity to testify against the agents. Fucking bullshit by the Bush administration and homeland security.

    If these guys are not punished for shooting a guy just for running away, then cops all over the nation are going to start shooting guys for the hell of it and then claiming they were trying to run away. They already beat people and claim resisting arrest. The only reason they don't put out a knee cap or two with their side arms is because they'd have to prove that their lives were in danger.

    Traditionally, drug smugglers travel with heavily armed Mexican mercenaries. Those guys would have no problem killing a few lone border patrol men.

    That guy didn't belong in America. He has no right to smuggle drugs into America and deserves to be shot at.

    On TV, yes. In reality, no. There are armed smugglers, but the majority of them are just dudes driving trucks.

    At any rate, criminals in general are known to carry guns, yet it's still illegal in the states to shoot people for running away. I guess the problem with traffickers is that they're mexican.
