Apparently your reading comprehension has been suffering. As I've stated in many, many threads on this topic, global warming isn't really the issue of contention. Warming trends, causes, solutions - those are the issues that we're debating. I know it is easy for you to dismiss anyone questioning you or Al Gore by throwing up this "you don't believe in global warming" strawman. I completely acknowlege the phenomenon of global warming. I just don't subscribe to the chicken little fearmonger approach.
But that's tangential to my question to polaris regarding CATO.
It is correct that there have been heat waves in the past, some lasting for short (a week or two) stretches of time. That is not how global warming is measured. It is how consistent the higher temperatures are over a period of time. Five out of the last six years have been the highest on record. Night temperatures have also been higher than normal over the last six years. Wave patterns have changed in the oceans. If you happened to see 60 Minutes tonight, there was a whole segment on global warming. It showed the extent to which the artic has melted in just the last 10 years. Pretty frightening.
I haven't seen the Al Gore movie yet, but I do look forward to seeing it when it comes out on dvd.
