I believe in climate change. But I have to laugh when people attribute a specific event to it.
I don't know that you can really blame an event itself on climate change; but I'm sure climate change has a good deal to do with an event's strength and frequency of occurrence.
  • there is no possible way to even try to refute what you say after your rant/bash on me and sterotyping others here on the train. your mind is set
You mean that you really have no idea what you're talking about?

Refute what Al Gore is doing. don't just say "Ohhhh but he's not as much of an environmentalists as he says!" or "Oh it's all liberal propaganda from the science-stapo". Actually give me an argument. None of your threads have a single real argument in them.

So refute to me the main points of the global warming argument.

Why shouldn't we be as least dependant on oil as possible?

It's polluting our air and putting our economic balls in a vice. Whether or not that pollution leads to global warming isn't as important as the message that Gore sends about fixing the problem.

Also... explain to me what's so farfetched about the global warming theory?

the greenhouse effect is fact. It's the term we use to describe the process that the Earth heats itself. Gases like Co2 and Ozone for example trap sunlight inside the Earth's atmosphere (essentially). Without it we would have no heat, weather, climate, or even an atmosphere.

We're putting exponentially more of the greenhouse gases into our atmosphere, which should accelerate the process. More of these gases means less heat from the sun escapes the Earth.

Now tell me why that's irrational liberal bullshit.

By the way, I haven't brought up a single stereotype. I'd like to see the one you mentioned.

Sorry but it's not put "our economic balls in a vice". The only time your "economic balls" can be put in a vice is if you refuse to adapt to market conditions. I have full and complete faith that Canada, America and other economies will have no problem adapting. Gore and others stick to science, stay away from economics, there's a reason Wall Street isn't big on hiring ecologists.

Putting so much dependance on one thing is always bad. Like with corn... we use a mindblowing amount of corn in this country. If something should happen to it we're fucked. Now I think we've evolved enough to avoid another potato (corn) famine ;), but you see what I'm saying? If something happens to our oil we're gonna be in an extremely tough position. And oil is a finite source of energy no matter how much we have in reserve. Eventually we're gonna have to face the music, and I'd rather we be ready for it long before.

Sure, but if and only if, you can scientifically find the cause and effect between this typhoon and climate change. Or would you ahter talk about the highly normal weather we are having on the west coast and have had all year.

i don't have time to type the entire scientific background which ties increased level of severe weather with climate change - even tho i have typed it many times before ...

and how can you say the weather on the west coast has been normal?? ... first of all - the heat wave, secondly the amount of sunshine ... my good friend lives in vancouver and she said its fucked up weather ...

There's no money in being ready for it in advance so that's not going to happen. Economies don't work that way. The price of oil either has to get higher , the oil depletion date has to be nearer, or someone has to come through with a huge scientific break through before you see real change.

We've had many summers like this. Today, light rain scattered clouds high of about 22. Normal.

That article is three weeks old. If you are going to point to a specific day or period with high temperatures as proof of climate change then it is equally reliable to point to a period with average temperatures and rainfall as proof that climate change is not understood.

Even if Gore isn't as good at practising what he's preaching, his points remain valid. In politics, the message and policy is always way more important than the person dictating it. But it is of course always fun to ta catch them not doing what they say themselves.
