outside the lines and an HBO show did a whole thing on racism in soccer in Europe, it's pretty bad. They interviewed a black player who had to endure bananas thrown at him, and all sorts of slurs hurled his way. They should a lot of footage from different games all over europe and the problems that they have.

You'd think with all the europeans with nothing better to do than shit on America every chance they get, that there arent ANY problems in Europe worth their attention. :)

Just FYI, it's been a problem within the game in Europe for quite a while now, particularly with the influx of African players in the "power" leagues in Europe (i.e. the English Premiership, La Liga in Spain, Bundesliga in Germany, Ligue Un in France, and Serie A in Italy). This is not exactly a new phenomenon.

Of course this will only further perpetuate the (unfair) stereotype of the "hooligan" football fan in Europe. It's worth noting that when you consider the demographic of many football fans (young, male, low-to-middle class income), it's no wonder that extremist groups make it a point to show up at football stadiums in the hope of recruiting new members.

I'll close by adding that a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch.

"Those fuckin croatians" ? You considere a whole country neo-nazis because you see about 30 white trash assholes doing that? Comparing croatia to iran and korea is really.. ehm.. generalizing.

The Swastika was a symbol used postively for over 3000 years by almost every civilization on the planet. Hitler used it because he felt it represented his cause, because he thought his cause was positive. The actual symbol still represents positive things. But a bunch of dumb fucks associate it with Hitler. I hate you.

In addition, Hitler also used the Eagle, but no one says the Eagle is evil or representative of Hitler or Nazism. Or else the U.S. would be considered a Nazi empire, the eagle is one of the most predominant symbols used in the U.S.

Hitler also used the Skull and Bones and the number 322(?). If he drew a circle on his crest would a circle represent Nazism aswell?

Didn't the swastika originate as an Egyptian symbol for peace? I dunno if that's where it originated but I'm positive that's what it meant (history channel :) ).

The Nazis tilted it 45 degrees. Diff. symbol entirely as the skewed symbol for peace represents some kind of disrupt of peace. If nazis weren't so goddamn stupid they'd know that.

It was used by everyone from Egyptians to Native Americans. It represents a range of positive things from prosperity, peace and good luck. Tilting it may have been a cleaver trick like flying your flag upside down. Symbolism sucks.

The swastika is also a Buddhist symbol. It is not uncommon to see it at a temple.
  • We should start using it in the real way now..

It could be like Clerks 2...

    We're taking it back!

(If you didn't see the movie and don't get the reference don't worry about it :p )

I haven't seen it, didn't even know it existed. I've seen Clerks, Mall Rats, Dogma, just about every one, or so I thought.

HBO's Inside Sports had a segment of the NAZIs at soccer games. It was crazy, people throwing bananas at African soccer players, total bullshit.

Quite a vulgar fanbase euro-soccer has.

    Now.............I gotta say it.

These people, do they represent europeans in the same way that many seem to think backwards ass rednecks in america are a fair way to lump into statements starting with "90% of all americans..........." ?????

I'd hope not. I personally like to believe that most europeans are just a nice a fellow as I, and that these hooligans are just that.

I will say this once more nicely before I get really pissed off about it: the actions of a few do not in any way represent the rest. These thugs are not "fans" of the game. They are hooligans, nothing more, and they are taking advantage of the immaturity of others.

Please do not mistake them for true fans of the game.
