    Well, I'm not entirely familiar with the country (outside of the Zagreb boot, that is), but I'll take a stab. Let's see. Small nation. Feels isolated by neighbors. Doesn't feel the world understands/recognizes them. Economically behind most of Europe. Mostly white.

    Huh, reminds me of baseball during the 1950's. I hear that the fans in St louis were vicious with black players. Anyway I think its just a matter of the croatian people getting used to integration. Doesnt look like the majority of people are into that white power shit, just a few aholes.

    Looks like roughly 65 people. 65 people at a football "friendly" were willing to do that. I don't think you could pull that off at a US sporting event.

    No way you could do that in the US. but like i said back in the 50's you could. maybe there wouldnt be swasticas but you can bet that there would have been angry mobs in the stands pissed at negro players. The EU, Croatia, and UEFA have to deal with this similar to what MLB had to do back in the days of segregation. Its just growing pains

    There are a couple of organizations and campaigns battling this across Europe like standupspeakup and kickitout.org. Incidents in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, the UK are nothing new. Players started wearing armbands to show solidarity, football organizing bodies started sanctioning teams and national organzations to make sure the is issues get addressed. The image in the first post is pretty disgusting.

    oh scary... 40000 morbidly obese christians wearing fanny packs invading europe is probably the least scariest thing since I watched an edited version of The Care Bears movie in an extremely brightly lit cinema.

    Just FYI, it's been a problem within the game in Europe for quite a while now, particularly with the influx of African players in the "power" leagues in Europe (i.e. the English Premiership, La Liga in Spain, Bundesliga in Germany, Ligue Un in France, and Serie A in Italy). This is not exactly a new phenomenon.

    Of course this will only further perpetuate the (unfair) stereotype of the "hooligan" football fan in Europe. It's worth noting that when you consider the demographic of many football fans (young, male, low-to-middle class income), it's no wonder that extremist groups make it a point to show up at football stadiums in the hope of recruiting new members.

    I'll close by adding that a few bad apples don't spoil the whole bunch.

    The Swastika was a symbol used postively for over 3000 years by almost every civilization on the planet. Hitler used it because he felt it represented his cause, because he thought his cause was positive. The actual symbol still represents positive things. But a bunch of dumb fucks associate it with Hitler. I hate you.

    Didn't the swastika originate as an Egyptian symbol for peace? I dunno if that's where it originated but I'm positive that's what it meant (history channel :) ).

    The Nazis tilted it 45 degrees. Diff. symbol entirely as the skewed symbol for peace represents some kind of disrupt of peace. If nazis weren't so goddamn stupid they'd know that.
