When I first started driving I was too nervous behind the wheel unless I smoked up.
Weed relaxed me and increased my concentration.
However, not everyone has the same effects, some people will become paranoid, lose concentration and suffer from altered visual perception. The effects of smoking marijuana are a scale of possibilities, I would guess depending on the mental health of the user.
For example, I was a very hyperactive kid. Recently I stopped smoking and I've been a very excitable person, not usual for me since I was a preteen. If I end up like I was, I'll have to start smoking again.
Anyway, the results vary and you aren't going to get a single article to explain how cannabis will affect people's reaction times and such.
Consider this however... two people who've never done drugs at all... have different average reaction times.. This is because all of such attributes as reaction, attention, awareness, etc.. are skills that we must practice. Video games for example improve reaction time, attention and awareness by large degrees over a lifetime. An avid gamer-stoned can probably out-drive a sober couch potato.
I necessarily have the passion for writing this, and you have the passion for condemning me; both of us are equally fools, equally the toys of destiny. Your nature is to do harm, mine is to love truth, and to make it public in spite of you. - Voltaire

I used to be (still am just need a lil more warm up) a pretty serious 3D shooter gamer actually at an international competition level. But really who has the time for all that? Mega geekoid time consuming. I've been on a various different clans with team ladders on all the big servers. I pretty much always pulled the team score with some very respectable shooting power.
Sometimes (and sometimes often) with ridiculous outcomes...like triple the best score of any player, and with my opponents dropping out mid-game out of frustration, accused of cheating etc.. Yeah it was pretty bad there for a while. Life wasted.
Not to brag but my hand eye co-ord is superb, both from video games growing up and I've played drums for over 20 years now, so that part of my brain is pretty much good.
I must say some of the most zen like games (and my best scores) were when high. No question about it.

Let us burn one
From end to end
And pass it over
To me my friend
Burn it long, well burn it slow
To light me up before I go
If you dont like my fire
Then dont come around
Cause Im gonna burn one down
Yes Im gonna burn one down
My choice is what I choose to do
And if Im causing no harm
It shouldnt bother you
Your choice is who you choose to be
And if your causin no harm
Then youre alright with me
If you dont like my fire
Then dont come around
Cause Im gonna burn one down
Yes Im gonna burn one down

Kind of like the bar should be cutting people off after three drinks because that is about everybody's limit. Tell me Speedy, the last time that you have seen that happen with a packed parking lot out front. Let me guess incase you don't see this post. Never!

and you are wrong .....i bartended for years.....and i cut off plenty of people.......
yeah, once they were clearly way past the legal limit to drive
funny how a guy that served thousands of drivers drinks when he was a bartender gets all high and mighty when it comes to driving after a few bong hits

Take me piece by piece..... Till there aint nothing left worth taking away from me.....
What so bullshit about it? I have been in thousands of bars and not once have I ever witnessed somebody get cut off. And judging by the full parking lot I don't think that too many people are not getting in their cars. You'd think that if drinking and driving were so, so, bad, which I do think it is, that cops would just wait outside a different bar every night of the week to clean up the problem in a very fast way.
Pot, cell phones, drinks, prescribed drugs, doing your make-up, etc, is all one in the same.

hey speedy, why dont you relax big fella. i was just poitning out that you have served alcohol to many people that drove, so you might want to chill with the finger poitning and nasty attitude when it comes to "the pot".
i will give you 5 rum and coke's, i will smoke 5 joints, and i know who will drive better.
i have always had a group of friends that parties. so over the past 10 years i have seen 3-4 of them get in accidents while drinking and driving (which you should never do), and ZERO get in accidents after smoking weed
thats all i know
personally i think everyone should take a hit before driving, that would totally eliminate speeding and road rage. (i am kidding, but its prolly true)

To me it doesn't matter whether it's illegal or not. It's not like all illegal drugs are worse than any legal drugs.
But it would be best not to drive while under influence. I do have to agree with abook too. In my personal experience drunk driving is worse than drinking under the influence of pot. This is just personal experience. But either way, it would be better if people avoided driving when they're intoxicated.
