I'd say a 100 years ago or so it was thought that war was good for the economy as England, the US and Canada were manufacturing based economies. But with the change in economies from manufacturing to knowledge base I don't think this holds true anymore.

    i would probably agree

This is true but there are businesses that only thrive during peace time, or famines, or whatever world event you can represent. I just don't think that the defence industry is the tail that wags the dog anymore. I believe the next industry to wag the dog is going to be the whole enviro industry. We already have the greed (carbon trading) and fear mongering required for it to be a substantial and long-term industry.

the defence industry is definitely the engine behind bush's actions ...

as for the rest of your commentary - i think it's sad ...

when people can't make a good point or respond to a valid comment, they make things up, thus causing those who were correct to begin with to respond the the made-up comment...

you see, putin is basically doing the same thing that bushy and company have been doing for years, and when that is pointed out, the obtuse will somehow see this statement as being in support of putin....when in reality it is not...

Even for me..a warmongering, bigotted, racist, world hating, lover of all things war and money, neo-con....W has gone too far.

Why in the fuck do we have to do everything? Why do we need missile defense systems in Europe? Like we can't fire nuclear missiles from our own country? Why are we the ones "saving the world" from Iran's nuclear program?

Kinda wish we'd just back off of everything a little bit...

Oh, sorry ... Did you guys say something? I was just busy basking in the radiant glow of a bunch of liberals defending both increased militarization and the actions of a man responsible for eroding democracy in one of the world's big powers.

    Carry on ...
    :)

nice try, no one said russia building up is a good thing. they are simply pointing out that fact the the worlds largest weapons dealer is pulling out of treaty after treaty, militarizing space, developing more advanced nuclear arsenals, pre emptively invading countries, and saber rattling to top it off which is all charging up a global arms race.

what part of that is inaccurate?
