what should we do about these ppl?

i liked the little girl saying "we're kind of being trained to be warriors, only in a funner way"
standin above the crowd
he had a voice that was strong and loud and
i swallowed his facade cos i'm so
eager to identify with
someone above the crowd
someone who seemed to feel the same
someone prepared to lead the way

it sucks so bad that they are just kids. they have no idea what they are doing.

I'd hate to think my daughter got involved in anything like that.. Though at that age, you would need the parents involvement.... **shivers**

Any parent who would send their kid to this camp is in need of help too.

It's a film, dramatisation..... The other one is real. Not that I'm denying this kind of indoctrination exists in other faiths. It does and it is as disgusting and disturbing whether it be christian, muslim, jewish, etc.
  • As someone who grew up in the evangelical movement, I have to point out here that this isn't something new. This has been going on since the late 70's. I remember hearing these same things at the churches I attended growing up.
I do think that some of it takes things out of context. There is a difference between what evangelicals call "spiritual warriors" and what this clip is trying to infer.

Not to be nit-picky but it's a documentary. I've seen it.

I went and saw the documentary and it was interesting. It is definitely much more on the charismatic end of the spectrum...there were some parts that were a little weird, but let me try to clarify something re: the "army" METAPHOR that is used in christian circles. No one in the movie is advocating violence toward a group of people. There is a culture warrior mentality (which usually does more harm than good) in some circles and they use phrases such as army of god, the sword, preparing for battle etc... as a description of the mental struggles and trying to keep certain things out of their lives b/c they see it as a huge battle b/c it's not easy. Ever hear of metaphors? that is what is going on. They are not advocating going out and destroying people etc... Just wanted to try to clear it up.

That said, I was glad to read some reviews where the camp leader said they did take some things out of context (rather, without the proper context she could see why people would react a little strange to some of it...understatement of the year) but for the most part she said it was accurate. I know a few of the people featured in the film felt they were portrayed poorly (Hagans?? maybe). I was a little put off by some of the statements in re: to science and the speaking tongues thing, but that's a different discussion.

You should be thanking our Grandparents that you aren't speaking German right now.

Just saw this post of yours on another thread and felt compelled to respond.

Question 1: Are you aware that the USSR was involved in World war 2?

Question 2: Are you aware that 9 out of every 10 German soldiers who were killed in World war 2 were killed in Russia?

Question 3. Where was America between 1939 and 1941, when Britain was at it's most vulnerable and before Pearl Harbour dragged you in?

c'mon man that thread was locked...we don't need a pissing match here too.

that being said...very good points. :)

i guess it's possible...just seems strange to say things like

    "this means war!"

then talk about muslim fundamentalists training their kids to make bombs, where bomb belts, throw hand grenades and give their life for islam then end it by saying "I want to see young ppl who are as committed to jesus christ as these young ppl are to the cause of islam. i want to see them radically laying down their lives for the gospel as..as..they are over in pakistan and israel and palestine..."

either way, it is crazy to have children pretty much worshipping pictures of bush

they also have a response to pastor haggard on their site
    http://www.jesuscampthemovie.com/haggard_response.html

also the lady who runs the camp, that becky fischer lady said "i never felt at any point that we were exploited"
