I tell my husband this kind of stuff all the time:

"I could get a prescription for anti-anxiety medication and take a pill every day. Or, when I feel completely stressed out, I can smoke a little and feel better that way".

Same thing. At least it is for me anyway. I prefer not to take some synthetic pill. But that's just me. :)

I used to do the exact same thing with alcohol. My doctor wanted me to take tranquilizers...I consciously opted to self medicate because I knew my limits with alcohol.

Eventually I found that we can go farr farther..we can actually resolve the underlying problems that cause the anxiety and change our own brain chemistry. We can create our own pharmocopia naturally from within, to suit our individual needs. When we use an external crutch, at one point it can be helpful, and yet, it always brings with it another set of problems, including any medical intervention I've ever used. Resolving the underlying issues and creating balance from within is felt as an absense of a problem to begin with--it's experienced as peace and harmony. Healing.

A White House who is marketing the world largest poppy operation in Afghanistan is telling people the dangers of marijuana.

A White House who has allowed the FDA to put more under-tested drugs whose side affects are more deadly than the problem they are 'trying' to help is telling people the dangers of marijuana.

Instead of telling people the dangers of marijuana, just tell us What new law enforcement measure you want to institute. Stop saying its for the children and just do what you're going to do any way.
SIN EATERS--We take the moral excrement we find in this equation and we bury it down deep inside of us so that the rest of our case can stay pure. That is the job. We are morally indefensible and absolutely necessary.

Does anyone take anything from the current government as truth? I mean, it's gotten to the point where if the White House said the Sun will rise tomorrow morning... I'd be a little skeptical.

Something people (voters) need to consider... Supreme Court Justice Stevens is 88 years old. We've dodged a bullet so far, but looks like he's gone in the next Presidential term.
The Supreme Court rules on what you have to do HERE in this country.
    ...
Choose the person who is going to choose the Justice... wisely.

I hear ya but I'm not voting in fear of a republican...I'm voting for what I think would be best for this country.

And honestly, after seeing the advisors Obama has picked...this really isn't a huge issue for me seeing as how both candidates pick shady guys. It's like having you by the balls saying vote for me or you'll get this....when neither are what you want. I don't feel threatened. It's the people's job to ensure this democracy is ran the way they want it to be...so I'm doing my part.

American politics is never about voting for the best person... it's voting for the one who is most likely to do the least amount of damage to our nation. Sort of a which is better for you... cancer or coma?
Which is why I concern myself with who will seat the Justice least likely to wipe his/her ass with the Constitution of my country.

If all you can see is cancer or coma, then don't wonder why that's what you end up with. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

American politics can be whatever we choose to make out of it. We aren't forced to choose between a coma or cancer...we choose to settle for them.

I'm voting for someone who I feel is worth voting for and every single other voter in this country is just as free as I am to do the same....they simply choose not to and pretend that we somehow live in a 2 party dictatorship where we are forced to vote for 2 sorry parties that neither one deserve our support after their past performances. They are not owed our votes. If we stopped putting up with it and actually trying using the word 'accountability' then maybe we'd start seeing a country that's in much better shape. By supporting them no matter what....it sends a strong message: 'Do whatever you want, continue to become more corrupt....it doesn't matter to us. We'll still line up to support you no matter what you do.'

And they treat us accordingly. They tell us one thing and do another. They push lies and propaganda to get the public to support policies that line the pockets of their cronies while bankrupting our country. This is coming from BOTH parties yet we do nothing but shrug and say that's just how it is. So why should they even think twice about cleaning up their act? We keep letting them get away with murder. What's going to cause them to want to stop? They take your support for granted and walk all over us because we LET them. It's up to us...I'm tired of this country acting like victims of it's government. This is a democracy...we put those people in power! It's our fault and yes, we COULD change it if we would stop living in fear of the government and realize we are the government and control who is elected into it.

Exactly!! I don't want cancer or a coma...so I'm opting out of those choices. There is no law that says we have to vote for diseases and illnesses....so why are people doing it????

I'm agreeing with you! I'm wondering why if people vote for cancer or coma they think they'll get something else. And then I get sad, thinking of how we've been taught that we are impotent, and unempowered. :(

And Cosmo...thanks for the great analogy! :D

I agree....it is totally sad how people act so helpless or powerless to change things...especially when they/we are the only ones who will ever have the power to change these things they see going go around them. We can't just keep crossing our fingers and hoping for the best when we are calling what we choose a terminal illness. If we are voting for illnesses then we will continue to see the symptoms of them affecting our lives.
