As Miller said, he is really not--officially speaking. He's a tough guy to figure out (by design, in part). He sang a lot about race in the 1960s, from what could generally be described as the liberal side. He also wrote a lot of anti-war tunes. Yet I think one of his books said that his favorite politician was Barry Goldwater.
He may be liberal. He may be moderate. He may even be conservative, but I don't think any of us truly knows.
That said, he is another person that you could argue for this list.I cannot come up with a new sig till I get this egg off my face.0 -

I agree. He turned more moderate in 1963 when he was asked to speak at a democratic convention, i believe ( its in the Scorsese film). Also in his book he talks about how he didnt like hippies.
And lets not forget his 3 christian albums in the late 70's.America...the greatest Country in the world.0 -

Noam Chomsky, revolutionary linguist, and revolutionary of the 20th and 21st century's. These people changed the way we experience life in the United States, and were ommitted.
Edit:
How can you put Betty Friedan on here and not have Ella Baker?

I see they stole Albert Einstein who was born in Germany. Although - unless i've overlooked him - I'm glad to see that they've omitted the serial rapist and child killer George Armstrong Custer from the list.0
