http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b350/likeanangel521/DSC01597.jpg another unfinished....started it in 1992 eddie...
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b350/likeanangel521/DSC01596.jpg this is just a close up of the shirt in the other link. i will finish this one. i actually messed it up pretty bad and got mad so i quit. i made the first button, it goes over way too far and doesnt look right. i have to erase that entire part and redo it. blah.
i really like how you did the colllar, nice color. keep it up!!
i was wondering if you ever would after you posted about doing tats on some other thread somewhere
these are amazing.
i'll tell you
when i'm all down and out i'll do one of about ten things
and looking at joyful art is one of them, like a little bitty matisse exhibit we've got here.
thanks so much. it makes me feel smiley.

thanks alot guys for all the great comments. it makes me feel sooo much better about some of this work.
these are the tat ideas i had....i also was thinking about BLACK - using the calligraphy title in the other link. i still like the idea of black - it means alot of things to me. You have a great memory, that was ages ago we talked about it!!!

Thanks!! pastels and of course pencil. i also have a tendency to do half pencil, half pastel. i like the way pencil gives pastel a silvery tint when used together. i didnt use much pencil on gavin, except around the nose and eyes. the others have alot of pencil. i was going to make the one of eddie my first portrait 100% pastel, and then the other one in just pencil. i think when i get them finished it will make a nice duo. when....he he
i have yet to learn how to control watercolor! never been good at it.
what are yours with? they look similar to pastel the way they are shaded and blend.
all the ones i posted on this page, and most of the others i've done are all color pencil (the stargazer had pen and ink)
THANKS SO MUCH!!!! I really want to finish these pieces. :(
maybe pick one that you really wanna finish, and set aside an evening which you devote to it. see how that goes
good luck
and keep posting!
I'm not so good at art, but I really enjoy it. Problem is I rarely finish anything!!!! I always feel guilty, like I should be doing something else, but I'm about to start a new artwork tonight! I'm going to make a sculputure out of rolled up newspaper, ever seen van gogh's sorrow (I think that is waht it is called)? It is a drawing of a woman sitting with her head on her knees. Well I am going to attempt to do a life size version of that. will proabably take a few months (that is if I end up finishing it!!!). I did a similar life size sculpture the same way when I was in highschool.
I've noticed a lot of people on here use photo bucket. Is that free? if so how do I join? If I can figure it out I will post a picture of what I am talking about.
Good luck to you.

Thanks for all the comments. I plan on working on something tonight.
i did a lifesize sculpture with plaster and casting in high school. it was of a friend sitting almost in the same position you were discussing. i was to the face, which i did seperately, b/c i was going to attach it as a mask, sorta like the phantom of the opera. the body of the damn thing ended up collapsing while drying b/c i did not get the outer 'crust' thick enough nor did i stuff it well enough. you learn from your mistakes. i was cut for time after that and had to do a solid plaster bust instead. we still entered the collapsed faceless body into the art show. it was very abstract, but worked. i liked riding around with it in my car (for some stupid reason)
keep pushing myself.
as someone else mentioned, you can't force a painting or drawing finished...well sometimes it's forced OUT of you, if you know what i mean...just wait and it always comes back. you'll always figure out how to finish something when you least expect it. i know the feeling of feeling frustrated with a piece, not having finished it...sometimes i start out with a vision and never reach it because the unfinished piece becomes better than what i'd had planned for.
i have a place i go and sit on a bench overlooking the ocean sometimes and i have about a couple of thousand tunes on my computer...that usually gets me motivated to do some work, especially neil young.
anyway, you have some great stuff...just wanted to let you know. slainte!
i'll try to finish it tomorrow.

i'll try to finish it tomorrow and re post when i get home
Thansk so much guys!!! Feeling the pj love!!!!!
- If you're not confused, you're not really paying attention to what's going on -
- Still so many answers I don't know, realise that to question is how we grow -
actually, a year later and i can say i have not touched this piece or any other, nor have i began new projects. i look at this one from time to time, and it's almost as if i dont want to finish it for fear it wont be perfect. i try to stay focused but it is so difficult with the detail. i signed in to the pit, (another thing i have not done lately) to read this post hoping it will help.
the other part is i'm 27 and already had surgery on both wrists for carpel tunnel 2 years ago, so i also get a lot of pain from drawing - still and it makes me feel a bit inadequate. i think that is most of my problem.
enough of my whining - happy friday b/c i'm off work!
thanks for all the wonderful comments!
spooky....
i think it's a sign! get drawing! but gently... be nice to your wrists...
